    25. Cal JSB/FX pellet poll

Oh, dont get me wrong. I know already what I use as said in first post. At 100 yards I would use slug (either Knockout or Hybrid) but at the moment I dont have range to that far. Im asking purely what works for others and how popular those pellets are compared to each other.

Light Slugs in a Pellet Barrel?

I tested again 33.95gr JSB King Heavy and 33.49gr JSB Knockout. Exactly same settings, 10 shots each: JSB 33.95gr King Heavy (AVG 904fps) JSB 33.49gr Knockout (AVG 879fps)

Light Slugs in a Pellet Barrel?

I shoot later today aswell with 33.95 JSB and 33.49gr JSB knockouts with same tune. My gun should be tuned now for ~905fps for 33.95gr JSB pellets.

I have also shot similar weight JSB Knockout (33gr) and JSB 33.95. I dont have those saved but Knockout lost 30-40fps compared to pellets in same settings (900 vs 860).

It is basically trial and error. So dont buy huge quantitues first 🙂

Light Slugs in a Pellet Barrel?

Crown MKII comes with superior liner as standard so it would be perfect test for pellet and light slugs (I have exactly same liner in my Maverick). Impact might have come with older liner, but you can test how Well it shoots. You will see does it like slugs or not 🙂 Next thing is to find what...

Light Slugs in a Pellet Barrel?

Glad that I could help. You are right tough that it depends lot of other things aswell like choke, twist rate, etc. Im just generalizing. In end of day, everyone has to just test what works exactly in their barrel. You mentioned crown and impact. After 2018 FX rifles have come with superior or...

Light Slugs in a Pellet Barrel?

It was mentioned in OPs post #6 " ...good option for long range bench rest shoots...". But yeah. Hunting has it own "rules" also (like in here, where you cannot hunt anything with air rifles)

Light Slugs in a Pellet Barrel?

You dont need to stalk you target in benchrest. You walk closer if you want :D

Light Slugs in a Pellet Barrel?

My both pellets have identical POI but FX Hybrids shoot about 1 MOA down and right at 40 yards.

Light Slugs in a Pellet Barrel?

Yep, ofcourse POI will change so need to adjust scope but other than that nothing. My current Maverick settings have same power level (7) for JSB/FX 33.95gr and FX hybrids. Then power level 4 for JSB/FX 25.35gr pellets. Both pellets shoot around 900FPS and Hybrids 960FPS. All are very accurate.

    25. Cal JSB/FX pellet poll

That is actually good point for guns that cannot change setting that easely even if you could set it with hammer spring setting for each. You probably want to stick one that is good. My objectively tests are both done close to "optimal" setting for each pellet (880-900fps)

Light Slugs in a Pellet Barrel?

For power increase, slug need lot more power per weight compared to pellet. First they usually are more accurate in speed range of 930-970FPS (depends on slug ofcourse and I have had good result 860fps with JSB knockouts aswell in 25 cal). Second, they are contact more with barrel so more...

Light Slugs in a Pellet Barrel?

I personally would say that use pellets for anything up to 50yards/meters. They are usually more accurate and powerfull enough as worse BC is not affected them that much yet. 50-80 yards/meters is transition zone and after 80yards/meters slug are pretty much better in anything.
