In the EU, lead solder is 'verboten'. In the USA you can still get lead though. The standard lead electronics solder is about 60% lead and 40% tin. Makes it pretty hard. But yeah in a desperate situation it's sure worth a try!

Check your de-gassing screw. I had to tighten it on mine. edit: I have the original Gauntlet 30, bolt action. But the rest of the gun should be the same.

Check your degassing valve is tight. After shooting a few hundred rounds through mine, I suspected a leak. A few hundred more and I could barely hear a hiss there. Snugged it up well and has held since.

Oh, and I see you're in Florida. For some strange reason Florida does not specify a minimum power, just a minimum caliber, .30 . As for power, the gauntlet 30 at 100 yards, shooting 64 grain slugs, provides 88 pounds of force, plenty enough for deer and hogs.

My son and I practice in the summer mostly 50 to 75 yards in a rather shaded area. When weather turns cooler and we are not hunting, we go to a more open area and shoot up to 100. We have shot at 125 yards on occasion, but practically we are 50 yard shooters.
