I have used some alcohol stains with good success when I wanted color other than "brown".

Nice job on the stock. Have you ever tried Aquafortis on maple? It will really bring out any figure in the wood and creates a real nice color.

Used super glue to bond the 3D printed pieces together. Not really functional, but allows for a fit check to the action and ergonomics .
