    Huben Hammerless K1

Since I have not been able to own a Huben K1 in UK I have not contributed to the discussions in this forum since the early days when there was interest in the Huben Patent and the operating system. But I have followed with interest the experiences of users as reported in this forum. I have not...

    Huben Hammerless K1

Gregor, If you are looking for alternative barrels try SILCO in UK. They supply Weirauch barrels by mail order. I recently bought a 24 inch 12mm unchoked .22 barrel from them for £60. I think that it is the one used in the FAC Weirauch PCPs. Tony

    Huben Hammerless K1

In the case of the Huben there is another factor that justifies the cost. As has been mentioned in this thread before, the Huben is a unique system that required much research and development to bring to market and is protected by international Patents that are not cheap to obtain and maintain...

    Huben Hammerless K1

Wlbryce, you may find that reducing the barrel length significantly reduces the power of the K1. That is because the K1 valve works differently from the traditional hammer valve and is effectively a blowpipe action at very high pressure. In the same way as the blowpipe needs a long barrel to...

Huben K1 Review And Insight Into Accuracy Problems

Thanks to Gregor for the further enlightenment. However it seems that the way the Huben works is still not fully understood so perhaps I should tell you more exactly. I had assumed that as soon as the Patent number was known, everybody would have looked at it and learnt the secret, as I did. But...

    Huben Hammerless K1

Sorry River Devil I can't comment on the Stehr LP50 as I don't know this gun. I think that it is hammer operated in which case it is quite different from the Huben. The Huben valve is quite simple it only opens and closes. It is only connected to the sear that releases it to open and the return...

    Huben Hammerless K1

I have been unable to access the photos from River Devil's post but I can imagine the structure of the Huben valve working from the Patent Drawings and also because in my home workshop I have a prototype airgun that works in exactly the same way, except that I do not need the constant pressure...

    Huben Hammerless K1

I hope that nothing that I have said is regarded as destructive criticism of the K1 as I would really like it to succeed. That would prove what I have been trying to tell the cognoscenti in UK for years, namely that the future of airguns lies not in the old fashioned Giffard hammer valve but in...

    Huben Hammerless K1

For those used to firing airguns it is almost a given that one must carefully select a suitable pellet to match the barrel before the best accuracy can be obtained. However with the Huben when we are approaching rimfire powers the considerations may be different. Many years ago before I was...

    Huben Hammerless K1

It would be interesting to know more about the LW barrel used in this gun. LW barrels are commonly used by other manufacturers and if the rifling is the same a direct comparison of accuracy could be made with available pellets.

Thanks for the update Wlbryce. Looking at your new JSB pellets I was immediately reminded of the Gamo long range pellets that have a similar elongated skirt. I have used the TS18 pellets but I believe that they now make the 22 grain TS22. These are at least cheap and easily available so may be...

    Huben Hammerless K1

Don't understand what they mean by an upgrade. The gun was always advertised with a LW barrel so does this mean that there are different grades of LW barrel ?. I know that LW offer both standard and polygon rifling so have they just changed the type of rifling?. Both types of barrel are the same...

    Huben Hammerless K1

If you look at Wlbryce's photos you can see that the barrel is held In an alloy casting mounted in front of the revolver cylinder. That seems to be the only mechanical attachment so that it is a fully floating barrel? The barrel is probably made integrally with the casting during manufacture and...

    Huben Hammerless K1

Thank you Aaronchow for your latest post. I now understand that you are not criticising Wlbryce and that you have no personal experience of the Huben K1 but that you have received insider information, presumably from someone associated with Huben, that they have been unable to make the rifle...

    Huben Hammerless K1

Hammerless airguns are not new. The first modern airgun using a hammerless valve was the Sharp Innova pump up. This was not a PCP but released all of the air from a reservoir in a single shot. However the firing action was brilliant. This was my first pneumatic rifle and it was superbly...
