So the rifle might be difficult but not the pistol, right?

I am new to air guns. One question that I have asked repeatedly and never got an answer to is how difficult it is to fully charge either a AirForce Edge, Red .177 cal or a Alfa Proj Competition PCP Pistol with a simple hand pumpP Also how do you know when these are fully charged?
