Tuning FX Barrel liner-to glue or not to glue

About 18 mo ago I put a CF sleeve on the liner which came with my MkII bought new in May 2020. I glued it per instructions. Dry fit on the liner was not tight; I could rotate the liner in the CF sleeve. Liner was indexed and was gratifyingly accurate before the sleeve. After sleeving accuracy...

    Tuning FX Radar

It's my understanding that the FX radar uses a microphone to detect the shot. On that assumption, when I shoot from a new location and get dropped shots, I put a sound-reflective surface below the muzzle and under the radar, usually a small cardboard box, and it helps.

Finally got around to building these-

The mulch I have is shredded, not cut up in coarse chunks. It does not lend itself to sifting through screens. I have a big deep plastic wheelbarrow, and I dump the mulch in there. The topmost layers of mulch will have few or no pellets/slugs, and I lift that off by hand. Then I flood the...

Is there a reason why the Impact's cheek rest

Lefty/left eye dominant. The high-cap Impact magazine does crowd my cheekbone but I can live with it. But the old smaller metal mags and Carm mags are perfectly comfortable. Saber Tactical adjustable cheek riser, though right-handed, works just fine for me.

Tuning Finally got my M3 to shoot slugs.

Vetmx is right. After I gave up trying to get back the sub-MOA I used to get, I cleaned out my 70 yard and 100 yard traps today. 32 pounds of slugs.

    [SPF] FX Impact MkII

Purchased new May 2020. .22, 700 mm, Power Plenum. Had a nice tune for a particular slug, but the slugs changed, and in the meantime I've retired and will be moving to a place where I won't have the acreage to work up a new tune for a new slug. Three liners: factory pellet, Slug A, and...

    Tuning Reassembling an Impact straight

Broekzwans, sorry, can't open the video but thanks. Also noticed that the Saber Tactical bag rider exerts force between front and rear halves of the rifle. Cahill, that's exactly what I wound up doing, thanks.

    Tuning Reassembling an Impact straight

Today I had to replace my valve rod assembly after the issue rod developed a bent tip when my C1 got loose. I noticed that it seems possible to misalign the front and rear halves of the gun, that is forward of the plenum vs plenum rearward, and that it's the top plate which lines the two halves...

WHY won't my beloved H&N .218 23 gr slugs shoot anymore?

Two different lots of the newer, non-slimy slugs mike out at 1.098" average with the comparator. The old slimy stuff averages 1.088". As best I can measure with my calipers, the dish is....0.01" deep. I put in the pin probe but not the rest of the slug power kit. With the pin as far forward as...

WHY won't my beloved H&N .218 23 gr slugs shoot anymore?

I have tried straight-from-the-tin, sorted by weight within 0.2 gr, washed and unlubed, washed and lubed with Napier oil, washed and lubed with Lemon Pledge, washed and lubed with Brownells Mag-Slick, all of the above after sorting by weight, and sorting by weight then examining the bases under...

WHY won't my beloved H&N .218 23 gr slugs shoot anymore?

For months I could do no wrong, average 0.4" 5 shots at 70 yd, averaging .95 MOA at 101 yds. Then the slugs changed. Most noticeable was that they no longer had the slimy mottled lube that so many found off-putting. Newer batches seem to have either a dark gray glossy coat or a lighter gray...
