I always liked the wildcat for carrying it , it was a very good gun to carry in woods

as for as .30 caliber if it has enough power it would be a great gun , has anyone shot a string to see FPE or  shot count yet ?

I have a MK1 it is a sweet gun now but had alot of bumps along the way to get it where it is .I thought when I used it gee I wished they made other barrels now with MK2 all fit ,prior before with MK! the impact would not fit but the royale was . I used to run my wildcat with a royale barrel on it

I believe it can be a good pellet gun , however no where the power for a .30 caliber slug gun

I have been experimenting with this and different angles of crown for accuracy on different slugs

Just courious why you say 30 years ago they were better  30 years ago the guns did not shoot as they do today , maybe because 30 years ago your eyesight was better lol

well Pmg if it is just copper why then am I having trouble grouping heavy slugs ? if I lighten them they shoot well Hmm ,The loather is 1-17 ,, does anyone know their twist rate in .25 caliber shooting slugs?

well I cant seem to shoot heavy ammo yet , ok here is what I wanted and where I am , I make 48 and 55 gr , I still cant get them to shoot well  when I saw Michael's  group ,  I decided to lighten up  my ammo and I did and when I shot groups at 55 gr then the 48 , then lightened them 4 gr at a time and that was 36 grain group .

I am not sure why yet lighter bullets shoot better , harmonics or twist rate hmmm  .

I know I have a Sako 22-250 I got many years ago , great gun out to 500 yards ,my groups at 100 always went threw 1 ragged hole , it sits in gun cabinet  alot . Well last year I pulled it out and loaded up a few hundred rounds with  most any bullet 45 to 55 grains , well I  saw alot of new bullets were designed  but were heavier  so I grabbed  a few types and reloaded them here was my results

ALL100 YD GROUPS with sako 22-250

    45gr same hole

    50 gr same hole

    55 gain  .2 inches

    70 gr 3.4 in inches

    80 gr vld  5.2 inches

80 gr hi bc  5.5  inches

now this was with a 1-14 twist , I re-barreled it with a 1-8 now it shoots 80gr one ragged hole @100 yards

I am not sure if airguns  are affected like real guns yet but real guns it makes a huge difference heavier ammo needs faster twist rate to stablize

Black std lw 25 unchokd blank , I tried all weights and  reg settings . the group I posted seems to be my best group so far , To get this group

I had used slug in start of this thread . however I modified the ammo and I put some rubber on barrel for harmonics and I placed a .040 plastic washer between tp and my barrel ..However I  am going to be working on accuracy for heavier ammo .

MY goal is to group sub moa with 48 to 55 gr and I am not there yet , It seems like when I get to a certain grain the groups open . so harmonically something is off

Here is first group before any tuning just install barrel and shot slugs . ( my pellet tune was edgun regulator at 135bar) . I shot 1 group at 70m and 2 groups at 100M

Next groups I will install Huma reg and set at 140 bar to get slugs moving faster .

Black Diesel you are 100 % correct .22 rimfire is cheaper then  slugs , however it shouldnt be ,. as it has brass gunpowder and a primer , However to be honest my Pcp guns are more accurate then my 22 rimfires and my pcp guns cost a whole lot more and to be honest they should not , but they do

I shoot slugs because I want to get the most out of my guns and I like long range accuracy , but when I hunt rarely do I shoot past 60 yards , but I can , and I like slugs as they fly better .

Where I live I can hunt in my yard with my pcp but I cant in a .22 rimfire , in some state hunting land , you can use a pcp but not a 22 rimfire and lastly to me  .Tuning my PCP guns and shooting slugs , keeps my dialing skills sharp for doping for long range shooting .

This is why I shoot slugs , LOU

Just read this , This tool just came in today I am crowning barrel as we speak and will get some groups as a few been asking , i was delayed as getting my tooling to crown , I did get .257 pilot in brass I had to machine it down to just slide into barrel , and I did cut it . I will assemble as try it over weekend .

As far as .25 acp slugs yes you can use then and size them down , or they wont fit into breech and most 25 calibers are really .257 good for a .257 conversion , but for a .25 slug they need to be a bit smaller , you dont want to size this much off they become inaccurate

I have had some impacts and crowns get over 40fps after removing out play so it never gets to full.I never saw one out of box with no play in it . When you shooting .25 and .30 cal you need every bit of power to get what you need . always removed wheel and cleaned screw and put a drop of locktite and get play out , as you only need to do it 1 time .

Hi Bob , the Hammer spring adjuster has to have no play to get most out of gun. The gun can be tuned many ways in .22 cal , Higher pressure short burst or lower pressure and a longer burst , I found with .22 cal Keeping Reg as low as possible for your shooting makes gun more accurate , due to less harmonics . Congratulations on New gun post pics LOU

P/S will you be using slugs or pellets ?
