    Other Airgun for Squirrel?

We get starlings, sometimes red - winged blackbirds in late winter, very early spring in large flocks so I just stop putting out birdseed for a few weeks. I can go out and just discharge my air rifle, or simply clap my hands and it scares them off, at least for a few hours. I used to see a...

    FWB Found a gem.

What's that rifle? My guess is a Browning/Winchester lo wall. I have one of the big Browning BPCR (black powder cartridge rifle) in 45-70. Big heavy gun 30 inch half octagon half round barrel, globe front sight and a Solue type rear tang sight basically a copy of the 1885 Winchester Hi Wall.

blueing would be good for a freshly drilled and degreased hole. Never thought of soot on an iris, it might have some lubricating properties.

If you do that touch up that hole with some cold gun blue to eliminate any reflected light, or at least help.

What springer did you shoot today?

Oh yes, the old FWB 150 I just got had the front globe full of dust, cleaned it out. Most of my guns have to stand upright on the buts so I put a cotton plug in the front of the diopter and then a small plastic zip lock over the muzzel end covering the globe sight.

What springer did you shoot today?

If you look back in the history of shooting, and even some today, diopter sights ruled. Did you see the movie Quigley Down Under, those old sights were outstanding. I have a modern reproduction of a Winchester(Browning) high wall rifle in 45-70 with one of those long range sights called a...

    Accushot

Got it in a couple of days ago, I rather doubt that it will get much, if any use. That thing is heavy beyond belief. Optics look pretty good. It does have the option for a red or green illuminated reticule. The adjustable objective is very stiff.

What springer did you shoot today?

Back to your "double image" Take the aperture off you 300s and try it on the 300jr and see if the problem persists, If so it is the aperture disk, the pinhole may not be round, or have something it in or see if they are same distance from your eye. Think of the diopter as the part with the...

What springer did you shoot today?

From what I have seen on your posts you seem to know quite a bit about air guns. I have been shooting rimfire since the early 50's possibly some in the very late 40's but was so young I cannot remember much back then. Mid 60's dad got me a centerfire, 30-06 when I finished high school and I...

What springer did you shoot today?

I think I currently have 14 air rifles equipped with diopter sights, and probably 16 firearms. Way back in my jr high or early high school days I made a peep sight from a piece of sheet metal for a lever action Daisy target BBgun, then when I hit college I quickly tried out and was accepted...

Show em - Single stroke/Pump Pneumatics, the more exotic the better!

I never heard of it being used for gunstocks. It is lightweight, fine grained but I think a bit on the soft side for a gunstock. It is used a lot in the wooden furniture industry for things like upholstered chair frames as it is very stable, takes glue well and holds screws well, but would...

What springer did you shoot today?

What do you mean by double image. If the fixed aperture or adjustable iris aperture fits I do not know what could cause an image problem. To me defective would be not adjusting vertically and horizontally and being repeatable in adjustments. The diopter sights are really rather simple. I...

What springer did you shoot today?

My new to me FWB 150. It was shipped without the rear sight installed, along with a scope . I installed the factory scope and at 10 yards did not need any adjustments. As I settle in with it will probably need some fine adjusting. I did put a Gehmann 510 adjustable iris on it and still find...

Other What is a Beeman 5002 scope?

No idea, I have a model 66 , a 3x9 ao scope. Made in Japan, as I understand the Beeman scopes were. I have had it since the late 70's possibly very early 80's. Seems to be a rather good quality. Never have had any problems with it using it on a FWB 124 for many years.

    N/A Mystery diopter?

You might try a drop of penetrating oil, or possibly better a very small amount of machine oil in some mineral spirits and soak the iris part with the lens part removed. Soak for a few hours/overnight, then take out and let drip dry.
