Browning Rutten Air Star electric motor driven springer...unfortunately, no longer made. Maybe there's one on the used market? (not too sure about the 40 yard accuracy requirement) PCP or CO2 would be the next option...unless you got your heart set on springers.

This might be a better product if you have a scope saddle that won't fit into these anti-recoil mounts. It's spendy at around $70. I'm very tempted to try one. Anyone has experience with this riser...

I agree with post #11. A recoil-less mount or a Sportmatch Dampa mount would work. Wished Sportmatch or any scope mount manufacturer would make a Dampa/anti-recoil adjustable Dove tail to Picatinny riser. That would solve a lot of my problems.

I don't play this game. I mostly stick to low power under 12 FPE springer. But You might want to check out some of the Hatsan. Like the 135 ($300). It's easier on the pocket book. ....Unfortunately, accuracy not on a par with the RWS 54 ($725) and 56.

What about SSP and MSP? There were some quality and very accurate SSP...too bad no one is making any nowsaday with these PCPs dominating the landscape. Granted (in general) they are only for short range and low power. MSP...hmmm sometimes I feel like a steam engine languishing in the era of...

I could be wrong but isn't there less moving parts on a digital scope compared to a "regular/erector tube" scope? Additionally, a digital scope is not dependent on mechanical means to hold zero Again, I could be wrong but most electronics today are designed pretty robustly to absorb impacts...

I hear you...it's a hassle to cut and grind new ends. what about just heating and collapsing a few coils? I've collapsed coils on my stove top. Just another option.

Leupold 50ft focus adapter. I've used them before and they'll bring the focus close to 10 yards. This could potentially widen the field of "quality" scopes to shoot around 10 yards But at $62ish...they are not cheap and You'll need a way to secure the adapter if the diameter or thread size...
