These days, most PCP's are pretty good guns. BSA's are a great value, especially used. Air Arms, Marauders, Evanix, etc., all good too. If you are new to PCP's, used is a good way to go.

Turning down the power is easy. Look on youtube for detuning a BSA Ultra, it's exactly the same and takes about 10 minutes. With a new spring and hammer from airgunspares.com, you could take it down to 12fpe. As it is, you should be able to drop it to around 20fpe, get more shots and still...

You probably just need to replace the o-ring on the pellet probe. There are lots of how to videos on you tube. I'd also guess, based on the video that the ball bearing that holds the probe in place is off. It's possible they forgot to put the spring in place when it was new.

Without adjusting the regulator, you can increase the speed by increasing the hammer spring tension. This video shows detuning as Ultra but all BSA PCP's are essentially the same. Tuning it up is the same, you just dial anti-clockwise.

I can't speak to hardness but having owned lots of BSA's, I prefer their barrels. As an average shooter, they are just as accurate as LW for me and much less pellet fussy. My Huntsman only shot JSB's really well but my BSA's all shot JSB's, Baracuda's, Crosman HP's, Napiers and a few other...
