There is nothing wrong with a Diana 34. Get one used for under 300. They one of the most bang for your buck rifles. I have two. One in 177 and in 22.

Buy a high-quality springer to begin with. Shoot it. If you don't like it, then think about tuning. Not all rifles need tuning.

Any journeyman manual machinist worth his salt could be a master tuner. Springers are not that complicated. I spent a couple years in a machine shop. I learned a lot. I worked with some really bright men that could build anything. Machinists are underpaid and underappreciated.

Ordered a .20 lefty. Was told it would be a month or two. I like the sling mounts. That will be my third HW 30. I also ordered a left hand R1 from Beeman back in 1989. I still have it. I installed new seals and spring. It shoots like new.
