There is a weeper hole on the back of the gauge. That is where it is leaking. Order some from Carr-McMaster. When I order anything from Crosman, anything, I toss in a new gauge. I haven’t had to replace one in years…

The position of the scope (eye relief distance) is not correct and your position changes each shot. The scope should be mounted so that you are required to place your face (eye) in the same place every time. Some of the best shooters in the world do not allow their cheek to touch the stock at all.

I had a 1701. Traded it. I have a 1720T. I like it much better. From the factory it comes with two TP to control shot count/speed. Mine shoots 25 shots at 12fpe. I also have a 2300 that is highly modified without power mods. I did not like the air gauge on the 1701 just hanging out there...

Never weighed it. Weight doesn’t bother me. Didn’t use a plastic gun in Vietnam either, err, except for the Model 25 I had with me. I traded the M16 for a M14..
