If it weren't for the perpetual scope problems I could be perfectly happy with break barrel nitro piston guns. I just got tired of trashing scopes over and over and over again.

You're not likely to get many shots at 18-20 ft/lb. Drop it down to 15-16 ft/lb and you should get close to 3 magazines. With a regulator on a P-rod I would suspect you could do away with the hammer throw adjustment and just leave it fully backed off (ccw).

I've been a head shooter all my life with rimfires, but after loosing a couple airgun kills last year that just collapsed on the limb they were setting on, I am beginning to think shoulder shots are a better choice at times. It sucks to have a dead squirrel stuck in a tree.

I would 100% agree and share your passion for them......if I could just keep a scope on one. I have crushed so many scopes on my nitro piston guns that I am afraid to leave the yard depending on any of them.

No they didn't smack the sights (that would do no good, they are fixed). Pretty sure they are bending the barrel.
