Ok - issue solved. You may all think I'm dumb, but the washer wasn't on the fill probe. Once added - both pumps work fine. I'm an engineer, and no dummy, but why the hell wouldn't a gun or pump manual tell me to do this?? So annoying. Anyway - thx for listening!

No idea man. These two pumps I got aren’t crappy. Seem solidly built, and since both behave the same way it’s gotta a gun or attachment problem right? this my first setup, too. Sucks

Hey can you break that down a bit more? I don’t follow all the lingo. I bought the hatsan pump and it’s still the exact same story! Now it’s gotta be the gun or the adapter, or the o rings - is that what you mean?

Belated thank you guys. No the damn pump spits out air when I up-pump. Bizarre. Can’t return but I’ll attempt a warranty claim w Benjamin.
