    Question/input on the hw30

If you can find an HW 30, buy it! You will not regret it. I currently have 2 in .177 and they are just plain fun to shoot. Easy to cock, low noise, accurate.

    Weihrauch Dealers In Houston, TX

The internet has dried up a lot of local retailers of air guns and consolidated into a few online retailers. Definitely a bummer if you want to see/handle something before purchasing. Agree that AoA is a good choice. Bought my last 2 HWs (springers) from them.

    Feinwerkbau Tyroleans

Very nice. I have an HW55T that I was fortunate to pick up a few years ago. I like the design of the HWs and Walters and agree with the comment that they look like they are from the same stockmaker. While I do not think the Diana or FWB tyroleans look as elegant, it would not stop me from...

Tuning Current Restoration Project - Santa Rosa Beeman R7

Just a thought, you might want to brown the barrel and action. It would continue to look vintage and still protect the metal. I have built several muzzleloaders and used Laurel Mountain's Browning solution. You can find a bunch of info about using it and see examples of the result online. It...

Break Barrel - need help understanding how to purchase with quiet requirement

Also agree with Odoyle that an HW30 is a great choice. I have 2 (both .177), one is an AoA Urban Pro with moderator the other open sights and plain stock. Both are quiet enough for the backyard. A quiet backstop/pellet trap might be a bigger issue than the report of an HW30. I also shoot a...

What's the best springer you can buy today?

I second the notion that an HW30 is extremely pleasurable to shoot. I have scoped one of mine (.177) with a Leaper's Bug Buster 3-12x and it is incredibly accurate. I shoot yellow jackets and cut off dandelions with it in my back yard. (Yes, my lawn has weeds. 😔)

What's the best springer you can buy today?

Opinion: If you like air rifles with great "fit and finish", you can't beat a Weihrauch or Feinwerkbau. (I have not handled an FX or AA so I cannot comment.) I prefer the smooth shooting, easy to cock, medium power rifles like the HW50s. Maybe not the best for 30-50 yard shooting...

    HW55 is the one

Great information on the HW55. I have a HW55T that dates to 1970 and is shooting just fine. Every time I get it out I can't help but marvel at its accuracy. I count myself as very lucky to own it. I have no idea if it has a leather piston seal or not and I really do not want to dissemble it. ...

    Minimum pellet weights

Thanks very helpful. My HW30/R7s can shoot just about anything well. They really seem to like the RWS Meisterkugelens. I just received an HW50s and I am still breaking it in and trying to find its favorite pellet. The HW50 is easy to shoot but certainly different from the HW30.

    Minimum pellet weights

Is there a rule of thumb for minimum pellet weights for air rifles? Specifically, for low to middle power rifles like the HW30, HW50s and HW55. Some of the available non-lead pellets say they are for PCP-use only (usually around 6.5gr in .177) and if used in these rifles are there ill effects? DW

    Brand New HW35e Stainless

Really nice piece of walnut and love the stainless. (I just wish they made everything stainless). The guys are AoA are great to work with. Just had a HW50s delivered last week! DW

The lesser mentioned even numbered Beeman "R" series

Nice collection! I have always liked the style of the stock on the R8. I might be wrong but I believe custom gunmaker Gary Goudy designed the stocks for (at least) the R1 and R8. I have been a fan since I visited the San Rafael Beeman showroom a very long time ago... DW
