Daystate has been caught with their pants down around their ankles and the pathetic thing is that they aren't "big" enough to man up and deal with the issue.

No, FX isn't perfect either.  In fact the entire industry is a far cry from reliability established by the powder-burner firearms industry (not that they're all perfect either).

It's pick your poison and deal with the ramifications, when it comes to air guns.

I do enjoy my RW .22HP, but jeez… $2800??? Whatever.  It was my choice to peel off the big bills and fork them over.

That 5-year warranty sounded like a good thing.  For a while. At the price charged for the Red Wolf, I would expect the company to totally stand behind these issues.  I think I'll be looking to FX for my next PCP. Dreamliner anyone?

I could be wrong, but I gather that the Huma Regulator functions better with a little more pressure.  You may want to try 145 bar, if you're not happy with the performance.

Slightly higher reg pressure and slightly less hammer spring tension will make hammer cocking easier, as well.

OK, built it a big brother with a larger opening that may allow for further out shooting and more forgiving of misses and flyers.

Very nice!  Quick and easy to make – and very effective.

Well, I tried a few mags with my RW today, no issues for me, I have 5 RW, no issues with any of them!

"The question is, have you been using mags all along, or tray loaded for the most part and just recently trying the mags?

I've only been using the tray loaded with my RW, for 2000 rounds or so. Of course, no damage to the probe"

If I am "plinking" lets call it then I use the mag, for "serious" shooting I use the single shot tray, not only does it "focus" my approach to the shot, but I  derive more pleasure knowing I have to make it count.

For me the RW is a benchrest or HFT, or FT rifle in a beautiful dress! it shoots on par with my Steyr or Anschutz 9015, but adds flair that the others just don't have!

I personally think that the other European manufacturers have a tough time ahead when the RW starts to really shine on the competitive shooting scene!

Due to length and weight, the RW .22 High Power is definitely a bench rest gun for me, and hence I use the single shot tray.

For shooting "on the go", I much prefer a shorter, lighter, more nimble platform.  At present, that would be the Bantam Sniper .22 for me.

So I got one of these a few weeks ago and man I was not getting good accuracy results. I was seeing flyers all over. I chronographed it yesterday and I was seeing a standard deviation of 9ish after 10 shots with an average of 858FPS with an 18gr. I swore the regulator was bad but I kept fiddling with it.

Long story short after disassembling and inspecting the reg screw, hammer spring and slingshot, in order to fix this I ended up having to adjust the reg from 125 to around 135 and I had to dial in the hammer spring screw about a half a turn. That seemed to work because I am now seeing a standard deviation of 3ish. Has anyone else experienced this? I did loctite the hammer spring screws as suggested. I’m just a little disappointed that I had to do this much work on a brand new gun.

I've settled at Huma Reg pressure of 145 bar and hammer tension screw turned in about .06" from flush.

So I took a dremel to that little hook and effectively removed it entirely. Magazine still functions 100% in the red wolf. Effectively changed its function to be near identical to a JKHan mag, for those who have use those guns.

Fired off a rapid fire 10 shot group at close range with my wife hollering on my ear for help with some random chore and there appears to be significant improvement. No massive flyers at all like before. It'll be next weekend before I can test properly though…

Will post results and photos of groups when I can!

It would be nice to see what little "hook" you're talking about!  Looking forward to the pics, please.

There is already a picture earlier in the thread 👍🏻

    OK, I see it.  Thanks.

Yes Justin… the .25 cal pushes a fair bit more air, has more energy, lower shot count.

From a Bantam Sniper HR in .22 caliber, you could expect a 25 gr pellet to fly at around 730 fps.  Extremely effective match to a ground squirrel.

I would guess that the wood stock from a Bantam Hi-Lite might be made to work… routing out the cavity for the two gauges?

I agree with Matt in that there is good utility for the free with the smart phone apps.  While they may not give such precise and absolute readings as an expensive SPL meter can, they can serve well in comparing one moderator to another.  The app I have used gave readings of different cans that were relatively in line with my subjective hearing perception.  Not everyone needs to test with expensive professional instruments.

    EDITED TO ADD FURTHER CONTENT…

If I were on a tight budget and in the market for a CHINESE YONG HENG, I would just save a little more to get ONE OF THESE…

They SURE RESEMBLE THE $1299.99-$1399.00 Air Venturi and Hatsan compressors! Can't say for sure if they are the same though!

    DON'T QUOTE ME ON IT!!!

They were few reports of defective units (NOT THESE but for the other cheaper Yong Heng types) where the seller just refunded the money in full to the buyers for defective items and told the buyer not to bother shipping them back… FYI…

They may be a viable alternative to the OMEGA which cost up to 4x as much…

THAT IS IF I WAS FORCED TO DO CHEAP…

I really wonder how much the Alpha and Omega Supercharger is marked up???

If I was FORCED to buy CHINESE then I want it as CHEAP as possible…

Same goes for Chinese scopes and airguns wonder how much markup they really have???

I found my favorite $399 Nova Freedom at Bud's Gunshop selling for $287 at their regular price a month ago.

It is now in the $320 price range and out of stock.

$29.76 Beeman P17 including Beeman red dot sight for another example… If you really think about it…

    CA

For someone not wanting to spend anywhere near $2000, or $1200 perhaps for a compressor…. those certainly look like reasonable options to consider for relatively little outlay!

I agree on the rubber mulch. It stops pellets with ease for me.

With my .22 Bantam Sniper at about 30fpe and 35 yards,  5" of rubber mulch easily stops the pellets.

As far as I know they only make one compressor I had a friend at Pyramyd Air around $1000 to the door

Sounds good, thanks!  For my once every couple of months fill for my 100CF and 75CF Omega cylinders, I think that would do just fine for around a grand.

I have had an air Venturi for more than a year No problems ( quiet )I am running it  in my basement I have recently rebuilt a discovery no water no rust inside  I use it to refill two scuba tanks to 3200 about 40 minutes each use synthetic oil change it often I know it’s a big investment worth the convenience

Which model and at what cost?
