To lube or not to lube

Yeah! And to think it was just to bring attention to a product that coulda, mighta, maybe saved folks a few bucks on something similar that they, coulda, mighta, maybe been using anyway. Whoda thunk it? copen P.S. It has been entertaining though!

To lube or not to lube

Here's the thing Rooster, I just replaced the seal in my FWB 124 with one of those macaroni seals and everything went fine. The gentleman that sold the seal said moly grease is all you need . I'm good with that. My original seal looked like an over baked biscuit down there in the compression...

To lube or not to lube

So how do you properly maintain a synthetic piston seal without using a drop of silicone oil in the compression chamber periodically, short of disassembly to put moly grease on the seal.?

To lube or not to lube

Hope so! I can understand why using a little too much could be a problem but it seems like a drop periodically would be a good thing. I'm new to this sort of thing so I really don't know.

To lube or not to lube

Some of you folks may already know of this product but I just found it. Alchemy Air Werks Chamber Lube. It's on eBay. Tried to post a link but it didn't work. Seems a lot less expensive than most. There seems to be two opinions as to whether silicone drops should be put in the port of the...

    FWB 124

OK folks, next dumb question. Is there a solvent to use to soften and remove the old seal in the compression chamber? It looks like a baked biscuit down in there. Thanks, Bill

That's good news then. My puller should work fine. Thanks for that. copen

    FWB 124

Yeah, I've got an old Snap-On gear puller kit that I can adapt. That is if the center bolt is long enough, otherwise some sort of spacer will be in order. Have to have something to protect the safety anyway. If you were to guess, or know from experience, how much spring would you say is sticking...

    FWB 124

Well JC, I hate to admit it, but it's cuz I'm kinda computer stupid. I just ordered some parts from AGH yesterday, so maybe by the time I get'em installed, I can get my wife to help with some photos using her tablet. The fact is, it's just the plain jane version, not the deluxe, no checkered...
