I've received my 2240 and as we all know it is a jewel. Where i erred was in not noting that it evidently takes an XL to be able to put a moderator on the thing. Oh well, if I ever develop a continuous use of the pistol that requires more discretion I'll solve it then.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I've gone ahead and ordered a new 2240, at the price differential it just didn't make sense to buy used. This is my first air pistol and i'm looking forward to it. Again, Thanks Robbob 

I'm in the market for a Crosman 2240 pistol. I'm not expecting to use it much so am considering getting a used one. I'll be doing some plinking, some pest eradication. My question to y'all is how frequently does the Crosman 2240 need new orings/valves? Can i expect to do a tune-up on a used...
