    Chris, John, and Michael,

thanks for the opportunity!  I would dream for a mil dot christmas tree type reticle, with illumination and mil turrets.  I would also like to see a second focal plane reticle with detents in the adjustable mag ring.  My thoughts are with detents a shooter could have dope cards for holdovers for the different magnifications.

    Thanks

I have found myself in a similar situation, honestly, my taipan mutant Std in .22 (currently shooting about 35 FPE) has been very effective in dispatching both skunks, raccoons, and rats.  it is quiet enough (with a Donny LDC) that my neighbors ( about 30 yards away) have not been alerted. other than the smell.   I have also used a .25 airforce talonP with a talon tunes shroud, for the above animals.  Both I would feel comfortable shooting to 50 yards but would lean towards the .25.  Caliber increase is a little more forgiving to shot placement.  Just remember to keep a safe backdrop.

Good Luck, and sorry to hear about the family pets.

Dont overlook the airforce line!  They are great, and have proven accuracy.  They are very easy to upgrade later if you want.  I would say to go with a condor and either tune it down or get a talon ss and tune it up.  They are essentially the same frame with slightly different valves.  I have been very happy with mine!  Plus a tone of aftermarket parts if you are looking for something specific like a plinker, a hunter, or neighbor friendly, options are limitless.

As i understand it the temperature does not directly impact the scope specifically, it is more of a poi change due to the change in air density.
