Based on what I can currently find used it will most likely be down to the Taipan Vet and Wildcat MK3. Not in a rush but will update this with what I end up with. Thank you all for the input.

Taipan seems to be overwhelmingly positive. May have to pick one up for ease of life and a long term ol'reliable.

Appreciate the input. I figured shot placement as always is critical but am not as familiar with the fpe spread across pellet/slug airgun ammo. Sounds like either will definitely do the trick so I probably won't be as picky about it. More selection in .22 may make that more favorable though.

I've heard that. The are tough critters with a pretty thick skull. I was concerned that .25 might be louder. Thanks for the input.

Welcome to the forum. New here as well and on the search for a similar NY acceptable backyard quiet air rifle. Take a look for rod and gun clubs or other shooting ranges. Sometimes membership openings can be an issue but I know there are a handful throughout LI.

That's not too bad and modding can be half the fun! I'm still new to this world so deliberation has me swinging between options.

What did this kind of setup end up cost range wise? Trying to compare getting something like this and a few basic mods vs a used slightly higher end rifle that is ready to go. Mods can be a black hole but where's that break point of maybe consider something higher end?
