I have to agree with you. The Vortek PG4 tune kit came in. I cleaned everything and simply installed the kit as per instructions with their Vac-seal 30. Shot it 10 times then put 5 through the chrono. 10.9 gr pellet avg 780 fps with a 4 fps spread. I am sure this # will improve as the kit breaks in.

After disassembly compared the SST spring with the original. I.D., turns, wire size and O.D. seem to be the same. Cleaning things up for reassembly I tempted to remove the inner piston sleeve....mistake....30 year old grease is like glue. IMHO if it ain't broke leave it alone. Just ordered a PG4...

I have a 30 year old R1 in .20 which is losing it's pep.10 gr pellet chrono approx 700fps. Breech seal is OK. Someone offered me a new SST spring they had. Should I use this with new seals. I don't know what the difference is with the SST......Thoughts?

Good review...It helps me off the fence I was stuck on.

I have Vortex Defenders on all my optics. They run a little thick so take that into consideration if the objective is low.

Clarity in the Midas Tac is way better all around than the Argos...Good choice.

Agree to not disagree. My old eyes need an optic and cheap ones are just throwaways. Also agree about the used market. Some great values out there.

Might be a little late but I have always been a fan of Watlow Danish Oil. Very easy to use.

To chime in....Almost 40 years ago I purchased a Beeman R1 carbine in .20 cal. It has been the only one, a faithful one and not another will take it's place Hail Springers!

I know this is an older post but I'm rebuilding my R1 and found this too valuable to not say thanks for the info. Glad I found this forum.
