.22 VS .25 Slugs, What's your choice and why?! The Ultimate Poll

I shoot .22, NSA 31.2, at 1000fps. I have shot at 1040, but that uses a bit more air. I shoot both an Impact and Panthera set at 1000fps, trajectory is close to the same but scope elevation does make a little difference

A pellet I would love to see produced

Round about 1990 I was shooting a Beeman R1 Lazerized, .20. This was recommended by them to kill ground squirrels. The Beeman store was local so I was in there all the time. The squirrels were a work issue so I was on them at least twice a week. Beeman would give me pellets to test on the...

.22 VS .25 Slugs, What's your choice and why?! The Ultimate Poll

I’m a ground squirrel shooter. Made my first trip to Nevada already and will be going on my second trip next week. First trip I killed just over 100 with the air rifles. Now I have tried both 22 and 25. 10 foot pounds of energy difference is not significant in my opinion. I am a 22 guy all the...

First time air gun owner what is the best compressor

The very best information is on Dive forums. They need high quality air which means good compressors. The low end dive compressors are Coltri and Alkin31. While these compressors are lower end for high pressure air, they work. Read these forums, it will help you decide which compressor to...

Why is the .20 popular for those in the know?

Many years ago, around 1990, we had a ground Squirrel problem at work. At that time I was able to go to Beeman Precision Firearms in Santa Rosa. Ultimately they recommended a Beeman R1 in 20 cal. That rifle was great out to about 35 yards and farther. I would test pellets for Beeman. They would...

    Element optics vs Vortex

I do not remember the exact model, but it was a razor series scope. Loved the scope, but in the field I just could not see the squirrels. I used to work in a shop that carried Swarovski products. Every year went to Swarovski class. Learned a lot at these classes. The one thing that most of us do...

    Element optics vs Vortex

I used to own Vortex. But when in the field. Tan to brown grass and light grey to dark grey squirrel, wow they were tough for me to see. Now for me my leupolds, Hawke and Element scope the squirrels were much easier to see. So whatever coatings that Vortex was using, was not good with my eyes...

    Best chronograph for PCP

The best chronograph in my opinion is the FX True Outdoors Ballistic unit. I have owned an Oehler, LabRadar, and various other shoot throughs. Pros This unit just works, every time for me. Links to my iPad and saves all the data Provides a wonderful ballistics chart that is on works with my...

What's with the Slug Speed fetish lately?

Elevation really helps on the longer shots. You can see the distance. And my alternate rigs are 17hmr and 17wsm.

What's with the Slug Speed fetish lately?

The reality is, Beldons do not give you time to dial. Almost all hold over. They may sit steady for 5 second, then they are on the move. They only time they sit steady is if it is windy and they are hunkered down, or you shoot one and they go to have fresh meat to snack on. On a warmer sunny...

What's with the Slug Speed fetish lately?

Nobody has talked about air usage. I am a high volume ground squirrel shooter. 500-750 shots a day. 3 days in a row. I bring two Great White Bottles with me. Last year I was shooting both my Impact and Panthera 22 cal at 1025fps, 31.2 NSA slugs. Now if I go down to 950 fps I double my shot count...

    Who's your go-to slug?

I shoot NSA because they are the least expensive. The squirrels don’t seem to care if I am shooting a 3/4” MOA or a 1 1/2” MOA. They act the same. Dead.

FX Panthera Owners - A Question

I have a 600mm Panthera. I shoot ground squirrels. Normally about 750 in 2-3 days. 2-3 trips per year. Used the Panthera this year. Like it better than the Impact for what I am doing. So yes, I would purchase it again. Simply wonder.

FX PANTHERA - .22 Cal 600mm - OUTSTANDING ACCURACY! - Who else has one? What are your thoughts?

With a 580 bottle upfront and the original in back. I am shooting the 31.2 NSA slugs at 975 fps. Pressure gauge is 155, sorry I do not remember the other settings. The other day from a 250 bar fill, down to 160 bar, 54 shots.

    FX Trajectory turmoil

I believe what 18.13 said. Now with that my home range is in CA, basically at sea level. When hunting 5000ft and generally colder. I just worry about squirrel accuracy. So I just adjust as needed on the fly if you will. Yes the programs work or I should say help. But only shooting at a known...
