    Temecula Field Target Report 2025 08 03

It's great to see FT alive and well in S. California. The CASA club is having a hard time finding a new good place to shoot that is affordable and works for a good number of members trying to attend. Your matches, LD are filling in a much needed gap. Thanks from all us FT guys! Wayne

Arizona State PCP championship and AAFTA Grand Prix - August 15, 16, & 17, 2025

Hi Mark, The AAFTA match course planner turns red when the total course reaches 36T, but 36T is what they want in order to count the competitors score as 100 GP points. If the course is 35.5T then the top competitor in each class will get a 98 or 99 instead of 100 GP points, so don't worry...

Resources Field target is an arms race price test

Are you comparing Piston guns against PCPs? If so, how should that be computed in the data of accuracy and competitiveness?

Jim, I brought that point up in the match report. I totally agree, addressing 3 targets instead of two and taking one shot on each target instead of two, really changes the difficulty of scoring on the lane. And do that on a 36T kill zone sizes on a switching wind, albeit a modest wind, made...

I am so glad you could make it Larry, and it was great that you got Doctor Jim to come with you. He told me he is loving being your new "FT student". You must be doing a great job since he won the "High Score New Shooter" award. Yes, the 36T course left no room for movement on follow through...

How about we do a "team" challenge too. Pick 3-4 competitors from your club and we'll use the top three scores for the team total. I'll have some prizes for the winning team. Any classes will work for the team.

Field Target is an arms race.

Sounds like we might need to add some rules to the low price point equipment class. Maybe no competitors with over 2 or maybe 3 years of experience allowed? What else would make it work to make it easier to enter the game and keep them coming back?

Field Target is an arms race.

Over the years of running a club and GP matches, we have seen a lot of folks that don't come back after they see what it's gonna take to play the game with any chance of even doing OK, let alone getting to the winners circle. When they understand that it takes at least $1,500 to get set up with...

Field Target is an arms race.

Could be Mike, and maybe some guys might try it for the challenge and to see if they can "whoop" the more expensive guns with their low priced rig?

Field Target is an arms race.

Ok, Let's assume that it is an arms race and that is a problem standing in front of expanding the Filed Target Game. What if there was a new class, (AAFTA approved or not), that was "Free Style" with any air rifle under 20fpe and MSRP of total equipment under $1,000. And to support the vendors...
