Use T nuts on the crown fore end. I purchased a used crown with a rail installed from PO. Was not paying attention and BAM!! Spring loaded Bi-pod legs swung forward and ripped the rail off cracking the stock.

Here lies the rub to the answer. I think it would totally depend upon when each rifle was manufactured and if during assembly which batch of shrouds was used. I myself would wait until I had rifle in hand before ordering.
