Wanted the RWS 54 for $299 but missed that chance, dang.

What Asian or overseas underlever springer is the best to buy and 'make it right' with some modding?

Medium power
.22 cal
budget is sub $300

Sub-$300 I would either skip the fixed barrel altogether and get a Diana 34 or be patient and watch the classifieds for a deal on a high quality fixed barrel gun. Maybe post a WTB ad, for a used Diana 48. Might find a good shooting gun a little rough looking for cheap, and customize it and make it yours.

Sorry man I had to ask. I never kept a PCP for a full tin of pellets before selling. The 34 provided a lot of fun and satisfaction for me, and I will probably never sell my R9. I am shy of the fixed barrel guns for weight and handling characteristics. Different strokes I guess.

If I could get my hands on a like-new BSA airsporter though...

Or maybe a british BSA Superstar. I am not sure if they were ever made in UK though. Awefully similar to the Gamo CFX.



I bet a Gamo CFX or ACCU might make an interesting project. But dont get mad at me if it doesn’t live up to your standards or expectations!

I remember seeing a pile of them at a gun show about 30 years ago. I think they were in the $25-$35 range.

I once had a bunch of early Chinese under and sidelever. I would buy one every few months to marvel at how quickly quality and design improved. Over the years most have gone to other shooters, but I keep two of the early ones for some sort of sentimental reasons.

Not worth it then, or now. I’d pay $100 for a “good” one. But you gotta go through a few to get a good one. Might get one so loose pellets fall right out.

I thought it was intentional at first, to fit the variety of sizes in those cheap chicom pellets in the little plastic containers. Do you remember the brand?

I still have some of those little plastic containers laying around. I used them to sort out the Benjamin variety packs because they get mixed up.

I wouldn't sell my GOOD B3 for any money offered since I had to go through (SO MANY that I lost count) over the many many many years till I finally got one that shoots like my R7's - HW30s in accuracy with a sorta terrible well worm in but surprisingly manageable trigger. I gave away the really junk ones.

They were Industry Brand from China those crappy deformed oxidized reject Chinese cheapie pellets in those white plastic screw containers with green sticker labels for 99 cents for 200 from Compasseco (Pre Pyramid Air company). I believe Compassrco then Airgun Express then came Pyramid. Industry- Tech force was the brand.

Tech Force was the nicest $hitty Chinese springers back in the day that shot terrible.

Of course with the exception of their Tech Force FWB 65 (SS2), FWB300s (BS4) and TX200 (B40) clones that were super accurate. Then the B26-2 HW95-R9 with thumhole stock and B21 RWS 48-52 clones were good too. So were the B50 and B51 PCP clones of the Daystate Huntsman.
