Torn between lcs or fx!

I can not for the life of me decide on which one to get! Either wait for the impact .35, or get a .25 lcs sk19. Pros and cons for each. If I get the lcs Im going to do alot of tinkering. I really want to learn that gun! Id also look into a custom much longer barrel and Id machine the rest. Id love to get a tj’s on there and push some 43gr or heavier slugs over 100ftlbs. But then theres the trigger... As for the impact, I would just wait for the slug liners to come out and prob do a dual bottle and thats about it. Tough decisions these days lol
 
I have an Impact in .25 and an SK-19 in .22. They are both great guns but if I were to have to choose just one it would be my Impact. It is more accurate and can be tuned to a greater extent than the SK-19. Although from what I have read the Impact .35 is more difficult and expensive to change calibers on than the <.30 guns. So, something to think about. Info is a bit conflicting here so I will let you sort through it.

Yes, I pretty much fergot about the funky trigger set up on the SK-19. Although the trigger is a bit strange I got used to it and was shooting well in short order so don't even think about it anymore. Yup, the adjustment range on the power adjuster is so huge it is totally insane. This makes it quite easy to tune the gun. My .22 shoots a good variety of pellets fairly well like 3/4 to 1 inch at 75 yards. But my .25 Impact does 1/2 inch at 100 yards.

If you could care less about the full auto and want a better trigger go with the huben(not to mention it’s $500 less). The trigger isn’t match grade but their is no mushiness in mine and it is predictable and crisp. Also the huben is quieter than the sk19. The sk19 is basically a huben with a different dress, full auto, and good old American marketing and customer support. I think a few people actually thought it was made in the US, whoever is running that LCS outfit is a marketing genius. LCS is the Harley Davidson of the AG world: Made in China, Assembled in the US. It’s the new American way😂

I wanted an impact in the worst way so I waited and waited and bought a Dreamline. Saved up some money, still no impact, waited and bought the Sk-19 that I really like other than not working out with slugs. Still kind of want an impact but will probably never buy another FX until they cut back on marketing and hype and up production and engineering. Also replace words like superior with improved.

Eh, those marketing words are a good kick in the rear to get people's thoughts stirred up. If you don't have a superior liner, you have an _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ liner. I'll let you fill the blanks. It shouldn't even be called improved liner, jeesh. Wasn't the intent of their new 'liner system' solely to be able to swap liners with different twist rates? How about call liners by their twists and just that. Oh that's the 1-23 liner? Does it shoot the 25.4's better than the 1-18 liner? Yes? Cool I prefer that pellet so I'll use that liner...how about producing a simple twist rate calculator (I have such available) that one can run to decide what twist rate is most ideal for their desired pellet(s)? Initially coming out with all the ideal calibers (very easy to do) and having people buying exactly what they need and no more isn't how you make money doing it though, you make money buy having those same customers buy into each and every one of those liners through the process...



Its just so convoluted, and opaque...

All that said, I'd still vote for FX over lcs as long as you can see through the smoke they like to blow around.

Maybe I’m just bitter I never got my Impact. I did hear rumor of a slug barrel for the LCS a while back. I’d like to know more about how the SK works, I’m not sure if the projectile gets a consistent seat in the breech every time or if gets started from wherever it rests in the magazine which tends to be very inconsistent. Shoots the hell out of pellets though and good enough to give false hope with slugs, can’t shake the random fliers though.

I would go with the FX for many reasons, here are a couple of reasons why...Accuracy, power, modularity, high capacity magazines, adjustability and ease of tuning. The trigger isn’t the best but better than the SK-19.


A couple of other things that aren’t brought up nearly as often when trying to decide if FX is right for you is access to information. Because the Impact is one of the most popular air guns in the world, there are a million videos, schematics, pictures, podcasts, articles and other forms of information all over the web. Not to mention, Ernest is a member here and will answer your questions, if not, heavy impact, Edosan, Nervoustrig or someone else familiar with the Impact will. When you need help with a problem, tuning or fixing your air gun, access to quick information is of utmost importance and often overlooked by potential buyers. When you have a problem and need help fast, ask your question here on AGN & because it’s an FX, you’ll get an answer fast! 

It’s also very nice to be able to customize and upgrade your gun very easily. It’s not chance or coincidence that the Impact is always being talked about here on AGN, it’s because so many people have and love them.

Fredrik at FX is at the top of his game when it comes to marketing FX products. It does get old seeing all of their sponsored shooters saying everything they touch is the best product ever made. You just need to be aware of who it is doing the review and whether or not they are objective. With that being said, the Impact has been around for so long that there are lots and lots of independent reviews, talking about both good and bad. I had lots of problems with my first Impact, after taking it apart 4 times myself, I ended up sending it back 3 times and then it was finally replaced. After all of that frustration, I can honestly tell you that my FX Impact MKII is my favorite gun of all time! It’s just awesome!!!

Well that all sounds pretty great! Hows the ruggedness of them? Are they real fragile? I love the evol 30 for that reason but their about impossible to get. Basically, can I throw it in a case in the back of the truck and not worry about barrels shifting and stuff like that?

The Impact’s are not fragile. I use all of my gun’s but also take good care of them. I don’t throw them on the ground or beat them on purpose. It’s no different than any other air gun as far as fragility. The Evol is kind of in a different league though, I’ve heard that thing is a tank...It certainly looks like it! The Impact is a cutting edge design and has a lot of O-rings, they will fail and you’ll need to replace them occasionally. Watch the videos, learn the gun, change the O-rings when necessary and keep on shooting. Utilizing all the info you can find and learning the gun so you can take care of it yourself Is one of the best things you can do as an air gunner! You’ll be self sufficient and repairs and maintenance will be fast and easy! Have a great evening. Stoti

I would give power to the Impact too(maybe), but that’s dependent if we’re talking a stock or upgraded gun! Efficiency could also be debatable, depending on the tune and what you’re trying to accomplish. I can’t imagine firing on semi or fully auto would be very efficient! LOL I’m certainly no expert and have no experience with the SK-19 other than what I’ve been told! I think either would be great but I’m also very partial to the Impact, there is just nothing like it!

Stoti, the impact can only reach the same or better power levels with heavy modifications or the power plenum. 

The LCS being a hammerless design is semi auto by default. Most semi auto airguns use a recycled air system to cycle the pellet probe. Whereas the LCS is using the same air in the reservoir and the gun is always “cocked” without a pellet probe. This hammerless tech makes the gun extremely efficient as it removes any flaws such as hammer bounce, dwell, etc. A .25 LCS, set at 110 reg pressure shooting JSB 34 gr @880 FPS, will use about 1.8 bars for every shot. Stoti if you have a .25 impact do you know what kind of efficiency it’s running at?

I think Im going to wait for the impact. I just saw that fx is going to produce some wicked expanding slugs in .35 and will be perfect for my usage! This gun will be 75% for night time varmint hunting and the .35 will help with that. Im out for days at a time and the double bottle option is perfect. Adds a little weight sure but I backpack for a week elk hunting with every bit of 75lbs or more lol so not worried. Thanks for all the info!! I’ll start diggin around impact threads now :)
