I'm sorry for you, but only the longest barrel is set up with a slug twist rate. The rest are only good for pellets. Are you able to exchange it still?Sold a Red Wolf Safari that shot 33/34 gr slugs with impressive accuracy and bought a laminated BW in 25 cal. with the same barrel length 23 inch as the Safari. So far this almost $4,000 rifle has not shot well any slug tried of varied brands, weights , shapes. The BW is accurate with AEA , 33.9 grs and 33.JSB's Exacts which for paper target are fine, but, for hunting you are limiting yourself to 100 yds. Tried to get a slug barrel but as typically with Daystate they are nowhere to be found.
Dissapointed? YOU BET! my 30 cal Delta W ( 600mm bbl) is also allegic to slugs.
Bought a 22 cal M3 and 25 cal M4 FX Impacts and both shoot slugs ( for long range iguana hunts) with benchrest accuracy at half the cost!
If your goal is purchasing a BW for long range hunting, consider its considerable overall length if you get one the 711 mm barrel, its considersable cost and the poor availability of accesories versus competitive FX Impact models with an enormous amount of available parts such as barrels, etc, at half the cost.

All I can say is that I almost sold me 30 caliber Red Wolf to buy barrels for the BW I just bought and I am having buyer remorse, this gun is now in the shop for repair I had the 28” barrel and it didn’t shoot very well they sent me 23” and it is just as bad, the blue spring broke had to replace it now in the shop they’re saying regulator creeping I am not the only one having this problem talked to another guy his BW has the same regulator problem and will not group either, the gun will not shoot a good group, every once in a while, you get a decent group the gun is not consistent. I took my RW 30 to range and first group was less then a 1/2 in the picture the square is 1” this is 5 shot groupSold a Red Wolf Safari that shot 33/34 gr slugs with impressive accuracy and bought a laminated BW in 25 cal. with the same barrel length 23 inch as the Safari. I had the 28” barrel and it won’t shoot slugs or anything else it’s junk, the platform of this gun is bad the only thing I have seen on the thread is that the 177 is shooting wellI'm sorry for you, but only the longest barrel is set up with a slug twist rate. Thanks at least for saving me some money on experimenting with slugs in my 23".
Are you saying your not happy with this gun?I heard that AoA is working with suppliers on new barrels. Hopefully that will fix things. Hopefully they will make things right for those of us who aren't happy with the performance.
I love it on paper, meaning the ideas behind it and especially the ease of disassembly and maintenance. It works well for shooting rats in my backyard. I am not yet happy with my results at 50 yards and beyond, but I can't say whether it's me or the gun that's to blame. I can tell you that I will be getting a slug barrel as soon as they become available. Are you saying your not happy with this gun?
Daystate specifically states which barrels are slug barrels. Did you specifically buy a slug barrel?Sold a Red Wolf Safari that shot 33/34 gr slugs with impressive accuracy and bought a laminated BW in 25 cal. with the same barrel length 23 inch as the Safari. Top left group 33.95 gr pellets. It does very well! Here’s my .25 Blackwolf at 80 yards in the wind and a Redwolf and a Raw Hmx1000 all .25 cal.I had the 28” barrel and it won’t shoot slugs or anything else it’s junk, the platform of this gun is bad the only thing I have seen on the thread is that the 177 is shooting well
I’m curious about your air source?Only accurate guns are interesting! Col. C Atkins
DS is good at marketing. They create an image of a product that on many occasions evaporates upon shooting the gun . Not to mention their advertising of parts and accesories not available for purchase. Not falling again for Daystate.

I think you are on the right track… the barrels seem to be the biggest problem. I’ve read a couple of posts about regulator issues but othe than that it seems the biggest frustration is related to barrels. The BW platform is capable of generating huge power but can the current “in stock“ barrels handle it? then I have to ask if the end users are asking a barrel to do something it wasn’t designed for? So far I have set up two different BW’s. The.177 in 17” I set up for a friend was stellar right out of the box; but AOA had to do a lot of fiddling to get it <20 fpe for field target. My personal EFT BW, a .25, with a 23” barrel, was given a level 2 prep by AOA which included barrel work; it also shoots very nicely. I ordered a sub MOA barrel for the .25 at time of purchase but it maybe a year? Before I see it?I am sorry to read your experiences on the BW. Daystate makes nice things but they are not "gunpeople". Daystate are not curious enough to experiment with whats available and what the markeds are asking for. The british in general are somewhat "behind and limited" and has always been. Opposit the US one see a strong will to break barries and to push limits at once. Its all about mindsets.
I my book a .22cal should handle 40-50grain slugs and a .25cal should handle 50-60grain slugs.
Keep your BW but get a custom made barrel for it. I have a .177cal which works great with 20grain but won`t handle 24grain all that well. I am considering a custom made barrel with 1:10 twist because the platform and caliber can handle it.
I might have done Daystate a little unjust. The new BW for me is what I was dreaming about and there it came. Daystate has made a mechnical platform to please FT shooters and hunters but....the barrels are the Achilleus.I think you are on the right track… the barrels seem to be the biggest problem. In summary I think the BW platform is solid but the LW barrels are the weak spot responsible for performance issues; especially if someone is expecting a non slug barrel to shoot slugs? I don’t use a Phillips screw driver to turn a flathead screw. I’m betting that any of these subpar BW’s would perform well with a proper barrel? We still have barrel supply issues with the two older platforms = Ghost and Deltawolf etc… like a faucet on trickle.
One would think that there is lots of after market money to be made in custom Airgun barrel - Choices?
I didn't know you can order a sub MOA barrel, how much did that cost? Is it a custom made order or it's something AOA plans to carry in the future? I noticed barrel harmonics is definitely at play here, at least for my BW. Without a moderator, it shoots best at 880 fps with 25 grain with AEA and JTS pellets. Anything faster the group opens up. I bought a 0dB Advantage Target Pro Kit to play with and was able to get good accuracy up to 920 fps. The group opens up if going faster than 920 fps with the 0dB Advantage Target Pro Kit. Daystate only states in their marketing that BW comes with LW barrel, not "match grade LW barrel", which is rather disappointing considering the cost of the gun.I ordered a sub MOA barrel for the .25 at time of purchase but it maybe a year? Before I see it?
i must admit i am quite naive regarding all the nuances of barrels. I use em i clean em... so far i have been luck on all but one barrel in my owning of way too many pcp's. And i have no interest in slugs so that doesn't help those who do.I might have done Daystate a little unjust. The new BW for me is what I was dreaming about and there it came. Daystate has made a mechnical platform to please FT shooters and hunters but....the barrels are the Achilleus.
I wrote to LW in Germany in regards to .177cal barrels in 1:10 twist and they informed me they have 1:14 .177cal barrels as a standard line-up now. That might be "ok" for 24grain. The current twistratio in Daystates .177 I don`t know but I will find out sooner or later.
When a .25cal airgun can do almost 100 ft/ibs its because it shoots heavy slugs perfectly. The same goes for the .177cal. No need to have a platform that will do +50 ft/ibs unless its shoots the heavy slugs accurately.
