Biodegradable targets...

What biodegradable targets do you shoot at?

As a plinker I get bored with paper targets very quickly and prefer something a bit more challenging for off-hand shooting.

For years I've been using breakfast cereal as a convenient, reactive and biodegradable target. Honeycomb explodes nicely when hit and the critters clean up afterwards.

I hang the Honeycomb on a bent-out paperclip suspended from a string to blow around in the breeze.

The Honeycomb is about 1 inch in diameter or one MOASH (minute of a squirrels head) in size making it ideal for small game hunting practice. 🙂

If I'm getting cocky and want more of a challenge in preparation for grasshopper hunting, I'll substitute Cherrios or Froot Loops for the Honeycomb... they are about 1/2" diameter.

Cereal will never replace tin cans but Honeycomb sure is a fun target.

Cheers!

I'm still working on all of the bottle caps from the beer I drank from 2007 to 2017.
I find they last me a long time seeing i cant hit them .. 😔. I find most all my targets last if i cant shoot and hit any of them 🥸

I guess spreading lead all over i don't guess biodegradable matters much .. lol unless your catchung and collecting your pellets for safe disposable. If not may as well turn plastic in to micro plastic 🥴
I'm concerned about free-lead in my environment as well.

The Honeycomb is suspended in front of my main backstop and all of my spinners/ target butts have their own backstop that I reclaim the lead from.

Works for me 🙂

Im not . I just sling lead everywhere. Kinda like global warming or the national debt I'll just enjoy myself and dump it on the next generation.. 😞
