What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

Practiced shooting in some stiff swirling winds today, constant 15-19 with gusts to 27 @100Y. I was aiming at one bull and POI was 2-3 bulls sideways. Really crazy winds. No need to post any targets as they were hideous.
I thought Hurricane Erin already moved out to sea.😀

Those are the conditions I experienced up in Oregon for their Extreme BR
the winds would shift/flip 5 degrees every other second...it was crazy!
I mean who practices for those conditions ...well i guess Tim does;)
I wouldn't want to post those either...

My practice sessions have been depressing lately. It’s hard enough shooting pellets in calm conditions but the least amount of wind makes one want to pull your hair out. Perhaps that’s why I keep it cut so short? I am trying to learn and sometimes I think I have a decent handle on the wind and then a pellet dives or shoots sideways with no logical reason why? I’ll be glad when PAC is over so I can go back to my 50Y comfort zone ;)

Tim, I hear ya! I too have really short hair (buzz mine with a #1 Oster) and glad I am not able to pull them all out..😂. Seriously, I went pesting for ground squirrels at my friends place and the first day was windy, 7-25mph gusts and we connected on maybe 30% from 40yds-120yds both shooting .22's, his an M3 and my RAW shooting from a table, most hits were the closer distances. Next day there was almost no wind and we absolutely hit 90%, I even got a two'fer! Both shot 18gr pellets both days....now I shoot only slugs when pesting at his place! You are doing what you can but predicting wind directions and turbulence is iffy at best especially at those wind speeds!

Randall, I was slinging lead when the flag tails were vertical just trying to learn hold offs. It was a crap shoot at best. I like to practice and take notes in windy conditions because we can get too complacent just shooting early morning or late evening in mostly calm conditions. The wind is frustrating but that’s how you learn, banging your head against the wall, since our hair is too short to pull out ;)

It’s been a spell since I’ve shot outside, and never did shoot any serious targets with air outside ever I guess. I’ve been relegated to shooting inside where I live now and it looks like our next place is going to be the same. Good news is I’ll have 60 ft. And 9 foot ceilings which mean I can shoot my bows as well. 😁. Probably will be winter before I get a chance to shoot again. It’s going to be a hectic fall.

I had issues grouping at 50 so I did a through cleaning. Took a bit to get it to settle in, though that’s normal. I actually shot off a bench that was made and gifted to me by a super solid dude that’s been guiding me down this airgun path. Still at 20 yards, but much harder than prone.

Red highlighted rows were re-leading.

Sweet love the flag table. I live near Park & 22nd st . OldVet

I was able to shoot out to 50 yards today, using AEA 33.95 grain pellets in .25. My first group of the day had me completely baffled. No wind to speak of, the transfer port setting and hammer settings were right where they should be. Then I shot my second group, made no changes or adjustments to anything. The one flier was my second shot on that target.

My current thought is that the regulator wasn’t stabilized when filled to 250 bar, stabilizing at around 240 bar. I proceeded to fill only to 240, which was often enough since I notice a drop in elevation when it gets to 200 bar, and it shot well.

I shot 24 five shot groups , so total of 120. These groups were shot in my little backyard range of 15 yards.
My Zelos in .22 cal using the Apolo 28g dish base HP SLUGS. I kept the air at 3,650 down to 2,900 each time where the regulator was set at. Hammer spring 5 turns in from flush.
Honestly I shot much better groups when the chrony was reading only 830 with same ammo. These were at 885 average. It's been a minute since I shot a PCP. Had lots of fun today. OV
