PCP truck gun?

Afternoon everyone,

I recently had a need to change vehicles going from a pickup to an SUV. The truck had plenty of room to stash a couple rifles and I kept a break barrel and a rimfire under the seat. Both will now be stored all the way in back and the break barrel is a little bit tight for my liking. I’m seriously considering replacing it with a pcp, specifically a Maximus. It gets a bit warm down here in the summer and my concern is air pressure going past safe limits during the day. It’s a white car with a light color interior and that helps but still looking at highs in the 90’s. If I fill the air tank to about half pressure will that be a safe move? Not carrying a pump, just basic stuff so I can shoot 25 shots before refill. I always keep at least modest air pressure in all my pcp rifles. Safe move? Thanks.

Easy enough to fill to normal pressure and then stick it inside the car for a few hours in the afternoon and check the pressure gauge on the rifle.

Tint on windows with the new ceramic tint films that block UV also are good investment in your own comfort with the vehicle during summer months. When I moved to Dallas that was the one of the first things I had done.

My truck gun.

I, personally, have left a [full tank] air rifle in the back of my Black Ram 1500 pick up. It gets very hot in the summer in that truck and it didn't change much in pressure. Not noticeable anyway. But, if left in direct sunlight, for a long time [few hours] you might run into some issues.

A Hatsan FlashPup. Compact,Reliable,Accurate. Easy to carry and shoulders fast and easy. Well balanced. The trigger ain't bad either. Not too expensive for a knock-around-truck gun. They come with a side lever action and synthetic stock now. Mine, (a refurbished), is the older wood stock bolt action in 22cal. 5-6 years old now. It has never leaked. The magazines were a problem but I use the single shot tray anyways. It really likes the JSB Hades pellet. But it shoots the JSB 18 grain very well at around 880 fps. You can probably get a refurbished 1 for around $300 or less. Go to the "Hatsan USA" site. The more I shot it the better it shot.

They fixed that magazine problem almost immediately after release and because I bought a re-furb direct, they sent me two magazines in the mail, that I didn't even ask for. They worked great.
