What springer did you shoot today?

Shot a few HW30’s today both .177. Rain all day.

These guns are gifts. Doesn’t get much better. Green is coming back.

Cleaned gun room for a few hours today. It’s like a black hole.
This table top is a POS it’s already delaminating. It’s always covered.

Crow

Sorry to see that crow. I made a laminated hard maple top about 1.5" thick for woodcarving around 1979. It is showing tiny spots like yours but I don't understand. It has been in a dry basement and I stood the pieces on edge so carving tools would hit slightly harder wood. Lots of hours went into making that. I got lucky and for sanding after laminating the top I had a buddy with a 49" platen driven sander. The belt/platen would go forward at a chosen rate, the thickness was cranked down to a precise thickness. It cost me nothing but the belts that clogged up with old glue. I have used that bench for carving and general gun tinkering ever since. Yes, some airguns have had scope mounts done there. All kinds of fun. A great project but I don't know where the plans are now. It has a wood vise on one end and one side. I don't have a photo, I'm a dinosaur. Roar. Be Well Brothers, B.

I have one of those benches, only a couple of months old. I will have to keep an eye on it. It sits outside. When not in use I cover it with a large heavy vinyl tarp then a vinyl coated fabric cover for a large gas grill. Directly on the bench, front art I have a smaller folded canvas tarp to protect the surface. On that my tripod and rear bag sits and when not in use all that sits under a rectangular shaped gavalnized tub.

I didn’t think this wood top would stand up here especially Oak. The other Stable table I have, has a plastic top, which I’ve never had a problem, other than looking cheesy. And a little smaller.
This wood table I cover it with a moving blanket and then a plastic cover when not in use.
Another wood top would be nothing to make. Crow

After about four different tune configurations on the used HW98 or #2 as I call it, I currently have it shooting at 11 ft lbs or about 760 fps depending on the pellet. Very easy to cock at this power. ( This scope is for testing purposes only).

This one doesn't like being shot off of bags. I can get decent groups with it resting on my hand, while my hand is on top of the bag. Here's todays
20 yard groups, the one with vertical stringing was off the bags, then I switched to off my hand and the other three groups tightened up.

At 40 yards I was averaging about an 1" size groups, but 1/2" is possible if I really try. ✌🏻

That stool or rest, kinda like. Your target needs a pic frame.

Haven't touched the 97K in months, it's been sitting in the safe un-scoped. Today I got it out and mounted up its new eyes. Since I sold the prosport, the Athlon 6-24X50 will go to the 97K.
I still need to buy some 30mm signature zee rings because the 97K shoots 3/12" low and 5" to the left with a optically centered scope. But for today I just adjusted it out for some trigger time.
After the scope adjustment I shot two pellets at the 1/4" dots at 20 yards...

The 97 will thread the needle if need be.

Then I set the target out to 40 yards and did 5 shot groups at the 1/4" dots, although not my best, it did pretty good for not shooting it in a long while. This rifle has shot a 1/4" 5 shot group in the past at 40 yards with zero wind, it's still my number one. But the new 98 is a close second.✌🏻

I had one of the smaller plastic top models and gave it away. The thing that sold me on this one was the size and shape of the top, the feet on the legs and the adjustment on all 3 legs for leveling. The location where I place mine was impossible to level the small one without a lot of shims under the leg ends.

The size of the wood table vs the plastic is huge. Especially when using the crony. And the frame is better with more adjustment.
I’ll get a few years out of this top.
I like these tables because they pivot. My range is wider than long. Crow

Finally put this old 50 back together last night. When on like a dream. View attachment 565313This spring press is best I’ve seen or had.
It would be even better if I assembled it correct. Didn’t put the cocking lever in before assembly. I get to screw it off and on again, oh boy, lucky me. Crow
tell me about the spring press please ?

Yes I wanted it for the size and the dogleg shape. I'm pretty good at woodworking and if it gives up the ghost I can make another without a lot of trouble.
I set mine up so the height adjustment pin is not actually through the top mount itself, but only through the vertical shaft so the top can rotate on the shaft, same for the seat. When not in use I rotate the seat under it all so it is covered.

I also wanted to be able to clamp a spotting scope mount to the top. The plastic top just had enough give that I did not feel comfortable clamping it with a high dollar spotting scope. I modified an old SInclair bench clamp with a swivel foot that clamps under the table, and some rubber on the bit top foot so no damage possible to the wood. I also mounted a bit piece of aluminum angle to the actual mount as an intermediate mount so my little angled eyepiece Kowa 554 scope woud be upright.

Stan. Who ever designed this press should receive the Noble Peace Prize. It works perfectly with this older 50.
It’s been well thought out.

Someone on this forum did a post with it in pic and it caught my eye. Luckily I saw one for sale up here ironically from another member.
Unfortunately they don’t make them any more, but are out there. I don’t even know the name of the manufacturer. The only issue I have is I can’t get my hand in to turn the trigger block but doable.

Where this is nice is, it’s easy to spin because it stays centered with the crib holding it firm as in first pic and the head spins. A little more setup but a breeze and worthy.
It’s a generous size but I have it storing nicely. Cut a groove out of shelf of high grade veneer and caught the carriage bolts flange.

If you see one, grab it. Crow
