Other Custom Stocks for well anything

A trying to use the Search function here to look up custom stocks for airguns .
Had hoped to see lots of nice ideas for a custom stock . Have one or two guns that would by miles high better in a figured wood . Is there any pool resource here for stockmakers ?
Does anyone know somebody that can do a custom stock to order ? Am sure there are still some custom d.i.y' stockers out there .

https://www.customstock.co.uk/ wonderful stuff here and great service , 3 or 4 weeks to your door if i remember correctly . not bad $$$ either .

Just contacted D. Cochrane (sp?) and he replied he is not taking any new orders for several months right now .

Unfortunately, the custom stock guys are becoming fewer and fewer.

Those that remain are pretty limited in what they make them for.

Most are overseas, there are a couple here in the states but Good Luck getting them to respond and when they do most will kindly tell you to kick rocks.

There is one Very well known custom stock guy here in Texas, I sent him Many messages over a 2 year period only to finally get a response stating he is no longer doing stocks, yet i see his work for other people as recent as a few months ago that he did...
So I can only conclude that you need to be in some sort of "boy's club" to have the work done....
I have several guns that I would really like to have a stock made, but I'll be damned if I'm going to beg someone to take my 800.00 to 1000.00 to get one done and be shunned before we ever have a discussion..
I get it that some people will waste the man's time, I'm not that guy, If I contact you I am a serious buyer....

Sorry for the rant but this kind of thing drives me nuts..
I wish good luck on your quest....

I recently ordered one and it takes a little longer than that. I believe I was told 5-6 week production time and if I remember correctly they charged me $440 after shipping for their CS700 thumbhole with select walnut and a rosewood grip cap.

If you are referring to Steve Corcoran, he no longer takes orders. He produces, then sells. We talked at length a couple years ago and he said he was spending to much family time dealing directly with customers. He said he can sell everything as fast as he can make it. Can’t blame him. If you are talking about someone else, sorry. But this is information for everyone. He’s a super nice guy.

This would seem like a very good opportunity for a craftsman in the third world to take advantage of, or even for a importer in the developed world with the right contacts.

I remember doing a job for a woman years ago whose house was filled with very elaborate deep carved wood furniture, beautiful stuff, and when I asked her about it she told me that it was all from Nigeria and that getting it imported to the States had been far more expensive than purchasing it in the first place. I'm sure there are similar craftsmen in places all over the globe and with 3d printed replicas or castings of various air rifle actions they could make beautiful stocks for reasonable prices.

Yes indeed ,few picking in custom air gun stocks, though they are out there and some very nice ones.Remember 3 good ones are in Europe and they only make stocks for the most popular models.Boyds Stocks has a few air gun stocks. I google custom air gun stocks, and there were some when I did it. I have a couple of the costom English made stocks,it is a no hassle way to get a stock from them,I support them, wait time is 6weeks or so. I love them because they make Left-handed-Stocks in all their models!!!(y)

yup old guy here i meant Steve , good to hear is still working , thanks for the correction .

Some of it I am sure is related to materials cost. Once you get into highly figured, desirable woods, and add in that the starting blank is usually thicker than std. Dimensional lumber the price goes up in a real hurry. The market will only bear so much when adding in the costs of labor on top. A big part of the reason for the rise in synthetic/laminate stocks on the non-custom end as well.

Yeah, I thought it was a very reasonable price. When I have the funds available I intend on buying one for my TX as well. I just wish they would make one for the HW30.

Right now at this moment i am trying NOT to order a Lefty Tyro for one of my rifles , I think it is a losing battle !

and to

Sawney Bean

If they made a HW30 stock, it would already be on My HW30

Watch Steve Corcoran’s “stocks for sale”. Maybe send him a message that you are watching for a HW30. He will not take an order but I’m sure he’s listening to his customers.

This is the first lefty he made for the HW30. I talked with him (Steve Corcoran) for a year about making them.

I talked to them after I bought my CS700 for my HW98 and asked if they'd considered making one for the R7/HW30 platform. I was told they won't because the investment would not be worth it based on the interest of this stock. I believe they are incorrect in this assessment.

He's made a lot of stocks that I like. I think it was you who posted a picture of one of his stocks on a Benjamin 397. It totally transformed the appearance of that rifle.

The main issue with custom stocks is ,WELL ITS CUSTOM.. CS in the Uk are nice but production stocks CNC cut .
its not a custom stock.. There are hundreds of the same stock all over.

I can tell you this , I’ve made several stocks and it’s not profitable in the Airgun market.
Wood alone now has skyrocketed. Then there’s the pattern making ,cutting, and finishing.. oh yeah add checkering

I WOULD NEVER DO ALLNTHAT FOR $450 to $550 I’d be making $4.00 hr. 😆

wood alone for a fancy to extra fancy will start at $350 to $400 and goes up fast with any figure..
cutting takes a few hrs and then it’s finishing and inletting.. that’s a minamal 3 to 5 days 6 hrs at least a day..

sanding and finishing takes at least two weeks has dry time is there.
You want checkering . Look at average cost of anyone doing it. $250 to $275 a panel x 2.
oh yeah a good duplicator is at least $5000 on up..
for the guys that carve by hand ,BLESS YOU..
THERE ISNT ANY MONEY IN AIRGUN STOCKS . POWDER BURNERS ARE dying to as most want the synthetic tactical look.

.Why do you think all the people who started got out.
