New RAW TM1000x - first range outing

Got a chance to shoot a new RAW TM1000x .177 today at my local range.

Pretty windy, and my 50-100Y sight-in range was crowded.

Pellet: JSB 16.2g
Velocity - varied, as I adjusted HST several times
Randolph Front mechanical rest
Rear Protektor bag
Distance: 30y and 40y

Very pleased with first outing. Shot about 175-200 pellets, and no recoil at all. My first .177 and the breech area is very generous for single load.

Velocity started out at 895-904 average FPS. Martin had great luck in Tn at 870 FPS at 55yards. A ragged hole group and now I need to find the right velocity for optimum accuracy. I may need to clean the barrel, as group #’s 4 and 5 opened up at 40Y at the end of my session.

I brought the gun to bed last night to sleep next to me, and I then was promptly shown the couch! 😊😊

What a beautiful rifle Tom. And those groups shot in wind are really good too!
Imagine what the groups will look like on a dead calm day! Looking forward to seeing you post more.
Nothing like a RAW, everything so very smooth and tight.
My favorite caliber is .177 because of the total lack of recoil.
It’s so nice to see the whole shot through the scope all the way to the impact.
My Rapid .20 is that way too.

Not the first to bring their RAW to bed :ROFLMAO:
That's an awesome stock! Fits in well with your set-up
As beautiful as the results on the target
Looks like low is the way to go ..fps
I'd be have such a Chesire cat smile on me face shooting targets like that i the wind
Who's got the couch tonight?
Mike

Thanks Dave!

The groups were just so-so, but……I need to break it in and find the best velocity for the 16.2 g pellet.

I can always re-tune for a 13.4g redesign .177. Martin accommodated me for a 40y and N50 target at 50y with the 16.2 g.

To be fair, he did recommend the 13.4gat 800-810 FPS range for 30y.

This is when the fun begins.

Thanks Mike!

I kidded Martin and told him I gave in, put it in my safe, and went back to bed to watch 'everyone loves Raymond' reruns.

He told me I did the right thing! 😊😊

Tom, congratulations! That is one gorgeous TMx! What a shooter too and not yet broken in yet. Wonderful pics and enjoy shooting it...and ,yes, if you put it in the bed with you, the couch it is....😂👍 BTW....some ,not all, have found that some RAW's can be more accurate with a moderator FYI.
Thank you!

Are you shooting slugs or pellets? 13.4 gr KO slugs work great too, but I would push them a little faster.

She’s beautiful Tommy, I’d take her to bed, lol.

Perhaps you should send her to me… I’ll tune her (and sleep with her)… of course it might take me the entire summer to get the tune just right…. 😉

Ed, ha ha…

Be careful what you ask for? You did such a great job on the HW100 .22 Carbine, even the squirrels are getting nervous.

Hi Paul

Pellets only, and Martin tuned it for the 16.2g JSB pellet which I wanted for 30y, 40y and even N50 practice cards. Martin liked 870 FPS, but he told me to experiment with minor HST adjustments.

To your point, I can always go back to shooting the 13.4g. My concern was relative accuracy with some wind at that tune for 40-50 y target shooting. Thus, we decided on heavier 16.2 pellet.

I had always heard the 16gr did not shoot well for accuracy, but looks like you’re well on your way to proving that wrong. Keep showing us some groups as you get her tuned in.

If you look closely at the 40Y groups ( #4 and #5 ) in the picture, they did open up at the end. Also, I shot a bunch of 30y groups that I did not show, and they were just ok. Not great. I would get a flier about every 8-9 shots, but that also could have been wind.

Very early yet, so will continue to post groups or score cards.

If you can share anything you heard from other RAW TM1000x owners on the 16.2g not shooting great, would like to hear more and learn about their experiences.

In any case, I cleaned the barrel and will be ready for the next outing in a week or so. I will continue to post results as I figure this out.
