Short on details.. but supposedly Theoben is back.

Bring back a 2 decade old CLASSIC .... O'save me !!!

I've never handled a Theoben, but I have a RAW. So I'm curious, is there anything about the older Theoben that is superior to the current RAW? Or is it like many of our fond memories that time has slightly exaggerated? Like the 60's era muscle cars that so many of us lusted over, only to drive one years later and realize how poorly it compares to current high performance cars. Bad example, as I'm sure the Theoben isn't "poor" by any standards.

Many to most people recall Theoben as the first and best ever gas ram guns. Fit finish and performance is still considered superb.

I'd really like to see them bring back the springers. There are plenty of excellent PCPs on the market these days, but so far as quality springers go its basically just HW and Air Arms, and their lineups are much smaller than they once were. If a new Theoben would bring back their classic springers I would be all over them. Imagine new production of SLRs or Dual Magnums, or perhaps their own take on the Whiscombe.

Perhaps the STOCK being walnut with sharp detail and o'so comfortable ! The Raw years ago had great stock choices, dismal to todays offerings
Mechanically speaking, outside the RAW's side lever cocking mechanics and the V fill/gauge manifold they are for basic conversation nearly identical.

Miens of barrel retention differ, Carbon bottle now, Aluminum then ... The Theoben PCP's were Magazine fed in what is the still used as HM type narrow gap with smile cut out for thump clearance if single loading configuration. ( BOTH use the standard length receiver block ) The RAW "X" guns receiver is longer.

Build a break barrel again. One the size and weight of an HW95 and the other similar to an HW50. I have no use or desire for a springer with a magazine. Have Ivan Hancock design the stock. I'm not really a fan of most Custom Stock UK's own blocky designs. There's nothing especially difficult about building the ram and I believe the company that built them for Theoben is still in buisiness. Consult Ivan again to aid in designing the trigger. Call it a Theovenom (y)

Or just remove the "O" and it becomes Thevenom. :giggle:

They didn't provide much details but supposedly there will be some new Theobens models out and UK made. Lloyd and the new guys are usually pretty credible.

Hopefully some more details soon. I still love me Rapid 1 and 2.

I thought that Theoben sold all the rights to the guy that moved to the states and started RAW? Including the name? He still makes the mags that fit the Rapid MKII.

Trust me when I tell you I have a 90's Theoben Rapid 12 MKII. It is as good today as it was back then, and I have recently purchased three Hubens, an FX Impact M3, a Evanix Colud Ultra, On the cheaper side a Dynamic. And a boat anchor called the Hatsan Pile Driver lol. My old Theoben will shoot with the best of them. It is highly modified, I have the once avalible adaptor to install the AA tube, and I made a custom stock and full Carbon Fiber barrel shroud for it. Whisper quiet. I still have the original stock and bottle.
