New Neighbors!

Food is indeed often the way to a mans heart, i assume a woman's too, if neighbours are cone heads it will probably also work on them.
As i recall Beldar had a raging appetite, for just about anything.

iu

I have not cooked or baked for decades, but in school i was quite good at it, actually as a kid it was also on me to make Jew cookies for Christmas, under my moms supervision of course. but ill be damned if i remember the recipe, but my dear old mother probably still have it somewhere.

But seriously, did you send them a meal yet for the move in? And take over a fruit basket this week.
I was a little wild when younger and Susie (sweetest adorable girl that anybody will love) and I had our first house. Me, with loud fast bikes and going in and out with guns and stuff. Neighbors would hear me a mile away winding it up and rowing the shifter. Some thought I was a little cuckoo and maybe I was.....BUT I always shoveled snow for them. Gave out home made Christmas cookies (Yes! I make some of the best you ever had. Ask for my famous Sand Tart recipe I guarantee better than Gramma's). Everybody knew I had their back. And they had mine. Few exceptions ever.View attachment 416284View attachment 416285
As a true public service, just go ahead & post recipe please! I'd appreciate it. Been finding out I have some talent in the kitchen.

Lol! Wait til I borrow my friend's BBQ trailer next weekend and do a half side of beef! As I do every year.

Start smoking pork shoulders. They usually take eight hours or more. Best pulled pork sandwiches ever. The smell is divine to a carnivore.
If we're not supposed to eat animals why'd God make them out of meat? :ROFLMAO: 🤪

Did you see the other ones I recommended for his neighbors? I'm certain they would enjoy these as well. Easy to make and very interesting blend of flavors. Christmassy? with the nutmeg, cinnamon, and dark chocolate. You would never guess they contain bananas or even oatmeal. Neighbors will not refuse these either.
My dear mother made about 4o types of cookie every year starting the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas Eve. Sometimes two kinds a day. I have 5 brothers and four sisters. We all helped in some way. Icing and decorating. I was especially good at licking beaters and the bowl. Mom sent samplers to our teachers and gave to friends and neighbors too. I still bake some of my very favorites and continue these traditions with our family and enjoy sharing it. If any of you try the recipes I posted and enjoy them please PM me and tell me about it. It's not always easy to get good old fashioned recipes. I hope these traditions live on in your families. Make some extra for the neighbors. And the least of His.
Another well worn hand written recipe. Disregard the note at the bottom for our old stove. Very good with raw sugar

I brough the proptry because i could shoot.I hate to have to move.:(🔫

I am glad I live in the sticks. The nearest house is over 300 yards & it belongs to my daughter. The next nearest house is about 800 yards away, and it can't be seen. My closest neighbor brings me 4 dozen eggs every two weeks & has for over a decade. He does most of my painting & staining, (cheap) cuz I don't like to. I give him vegetables from my garden & smoke him pork shoulder, jerky & brisket a few times a year. He shoots & hunts & I plant food plots next to his land to benefit him. I don't deer hunt or turkey hunt anymore. If we don't hear shooting for a week, we call to make sure one of us is not sick.

I’m still spinning about the neighbor who wanted someone to not barbecue. Then the HOA stepping in. I couldn’t keep a straight face if someone said that to me. I just spent two hours on my lathe and couldn’t stop thinking about it. Surprised I didn’t screw something up. The best I could come up with is maybe it’s just the new way that modern flimsy people flex when they meet someone. We no longer flex by being intimidated by someone who could pound you into powder. They bully people by the threat of cancellation and being a social outcast. Freakin crazy.

Thanks again for all the ideas guys! This is great! My wife is loving the recipes! We will try them all.
This morning she had cookies, caramel popcorn balls and cinnamon candy on their door before I even got up.
They were home but did not answer. She said it was very noisy inside. They are gutting the place.
Last guy was a lifelong cigar smoker, the walls and ceiling were brown from the smoke. I'm not sure the smell of cigar will ever go away.
I did see them later but there was a bunch of people over there and I'm not a people person. So I just kept to myself in the shop all day.
They have a teenage son. Two of his friends came over to ask about a dirt bike they saw in my yard. They both ride and are already trying to find him a bike! That's a good thing. Unfortunately, the bike they saw is a Chinese junk bike that was not good even when new. A horrible bike really. Parts are not available. But I told them I would look around for them.
The LDC thing is something I am not sure is legal in my state. From what I have read they are ok if it was attached at the factory.
I would love to go that route if it is legal. Some of my guns are pretty loud!
I did send an email to Washington gun law about LDC's being legal here. He has great Youtube vids and says to ask any questions. We will see what he has to say if he answers. Not sure if attorney types answer questions for free.
On that note I intend to start another thread asking who makes the quietest gun out of the box! Just in case!
I'm glad eggs were mentioned! We have free range chickens and can offer eggs too!
I like the flag idea. There is a giant one hanging in my shop. My NRA life member sticker is in my truck window. One thing they did right away was to remove the signs from his fence that said,
"You are now in range" with a picture of a target! And the one next to it that said." Prayer is the best way to meet the lord, Trespassing here is faster!"
That made me worry a little bit. But I would not want them in my yard either in this state.
It sounds like many of you have had this problem and even worse. The barbecue deal is too much. I glad that has not happened yet!!
I have heard enough horror stories about HOA problems I would never join one. They sound like a tremendous hassle. In fact after 20+years out in the country my wife and I will never live in a city again!

I'm out in the woods, but there is a single house down the road from me within earshot. Old neighbor moved out, new one moved in. Young couple with a toddler. The husband came over and introduced himself, and as it turns out, he wanted to ask me if I would object to him doing some target shooting from time to time. Well, my new friend, you are in luck.

As long as you are safe, and aren't out there after hours shooting, I said no problem. I proceeded to tell him about my career in the firearms industry, and showed him my own range out back. He's a good guy, very safe and responsible. My point is, I really appreciated his straightforward introduction and not beating around the bush about what he wanted to really ask me. Even if I wasn't an airgun/firearm guy, his courtesy and honest approach would have still won me over.

Sometimes the simple straightforward approach is the best.

I recently went through a similar experience. I had a neighbor that I liked next to my playground property, his wife died and 3 days later he put the house up for sale, sold in less than a week. I dropped everything and went full speed setting up my range because I thought for sure if I didn't the area behind my backstop would be my new neighbors kids favorite play area.

New neighbor moves in, asks to check out my property and I said sure, he see's my range and asks about it, and I explain that I enjoy shooting air rifles, that I use to shoot 25M BR and HFT at a GC, but the driving became too much, so I purchased this property for outdoor activities with more rooom than my backyard.

Get this he says, oh I had guys at my GC that shoot PCP air rifles with the tanks, and said I want to get a .22. I told him I that I have all the equipment, he asked me how many yards, I said 90, his reply: well I know how important 100 yards is in shooting, so you can extend your range out to 100 if you set up a good backstop. :)

Don't sweat it yet, you never know!
THIS IS GREAT A POSITIVE STORY !!! usually i only read more and more bad experience's

I have a few thoughts about the request to 1. not to BBQ because of some XXXXX and 2. to join the HOA. To #1 extreme laughter and to #2 a big H NOI!! Note: was in a HOA many decades ago, I really enjoyed using their by-laws against them, then I sold and got the heck out of that place.

I’m willing to bet they will be way more highly annoyed with the ripping around of your dirt bike (unless you somehow got a stark varg) than your airguns. Just explain that your are only shooting air power and you use dirt back stops and nothing will leave your property. Most people look at air rifles as toys anyway. All you can do. If they have a major problem and you are within the law, oh well that’s their problem 🤷‍♂️

Yeah we bought a house a few years ago and an HOA was a no go under any circumstances. My property and my house yet some organization is going to tell me what I can and can’t do with it. Literally baffles my mind that Americans put up with such a thing. Utterly baffles.

Edit…forgot the fact you get to pay extra to be told how you can and cannot manage your own property 😂😂. I get it some people love structure and rules and to be told exactly what to do. Point massively proven over the last several years.

I would never live in an HOA but I have seen my share of neighborhoods that could certainly benefit from having one, on the other hand mostly they deserve what they reap and would ignore the management.

I have some new neighbors. on their first day Thay came over as I was BBQing and announced that Thay were vegan and would like for me not to BBQ!!? I told them my name and that I was a carnivore and would not be granting the request! That afternoon I get a call from the HOA (that I don't belong to), asking me to limit my BBQ activities! or face a fine. When I pointed out that I'm not a part of the HOA, and that I would not be complying with the request, I was asked to join the HOA!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I told the HOA pres NO chance, and to have a nice day. Neighbor disputes can be a trying situation, even if you are within the rules and laws.
how are you not in the HOA ? i thought that was in the deed , or at least any i have heard of . or was the HOA formed after you bought ?

Karma would be indicative of me deserving to have a neighbor like the one I got. Nobody deserves a neighbor that destroys their property and trespasses.
Agreed - sounds like I misread your post? I got the impression you were deliberately sabotaging your neighbor’s efforts to sell their house by making a racket whenever it was shown.
