Well my friend didn't like the AOA treated him today

He bought a new daystate delta wolf about 3 months ago hasn't used it because the regulator kept switching out and saying low pressure and it wasn't right from day one I called and asked about it in service thinking it could be a break in issue well he ended up putting 2 tins threw it in that amount of time because of work and kids he hasn't had much time to shoot .
To make a long story short they lost a good customer they offered him 1600.00 for the brand new gun for trade towards a Red wolf that's not even 1/2 the price of the gun

Yeah I agree three months is bit of stretch I know it's good under warranty but you won't even offer the guy half of what he paid is a kicker though
That’s the world of trade in though. You always get shafted especially on a small niche gun like the alpha wolf. The airgun community in the big picture of things is small and the number in that community buying an alpha wolf is even much much smaller. Not a huge resale crowd and I think they have a cpl of used ones for sale now. However I get what you are saying as I think the used ones are listed 900 over their offer.

Right on the AOA Terms of Service, this is their FIRST bullet point. Sorry but he waited to long to say something. If he likes it he needs to send it back and have them repair it.

I had a like new Cricket I inquired about trading, they would give me 900. I declined.

They don’t know how the rifle has been treated or used for the past 5 mon. And they have to make money on the deal.

It sucks, but they’re in a business of making money. It could sit on the website for a long time like other used deltas they have.
It wasn't 5 months but 3 months I understand as well but it doesnt set well with me

Time for some math.
How much would you pay for a “like new” but used Delta Wolf? How much of a discount off of the sell price of a new gun?
My guess is any amount less than 25% would not interest very many buyers. The number is probably closer to 30%
Now figure what AOA or any other dealer’s cost to bring the gun back into inventory. It has to be gone through by the service department, then put it into inventory where it becomes idle capital until sold, the cost of the sales staff to sell it etc. They should make at least 20% on the at gun when re-sold.
Add those numbers up and you can see why they offer 50% off of a retail price for a new gun on trades.
Trading is best between friends or private owners. Trading to a dealer is never a good deal for the consumer. It is not a matter of a dealer being a crook. It is just math. I am betting any dealer would rather sell a new gun than a used one.

Truth is the resale value on the Apha and Delta Wolf is terrible. Even here in the classifieds people are having trouble selling them. While the AoA offer seems low it’s no different than I’d you brought a used car into a dealer for a trade in versus making a private sale. You trade sale value for convenience.

As others mention, the warranty is there for issues. Waiting 3 months when knowing there are issues is just stupid - sorry but calling like it is.

I see no valid reason for the complaint. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with AoA. I think Darren and the team do an amazing job.
