Hi everyone on my quest to find a Huben K one I just wanted to share something with everyone that happened to my good friend who has an is the reason I want the Huben shot himself last week because he did not have the safety on while walking through the woods. He slipped walking down a hill and shot himself through the foot. He was wearing $250 red wings boots that are very well-made. But it was not enough for the human penetrated the boots penetrate it through his foot and penetrate it out the bottom of the boots. I have noticed from just my experience. And shooting air rifles and being around people shooting air rifles sometimes they can get downplayed cause they’re not a “real gun” but fact of the matter is a lot of them put out serious power so please be careful and always treat them the same as any weapon and keep your safety on until you are 100% ready to take your shot at your target. He is OK and just got out of the hospital but it was a 42 grain slug so if that shot were elsewhere, it could’ve been vital. Thanks everyone and happy thanksgiving

By the way the photo showing his actual foot if you look at his toe, there’s a green circle/ball that is the pin that looks like an Allen key and that is to grab it and pull it out once it’s ready. That pin goes through his toe to the back of his heel. Sounds painful as all hell

Yes and the doctor said the impact from the top of the boot cause the pellet to expand so it was even worse going through his foot. They spent some time getting debris from the pellet out of his foot

I hope that was a 22 and not a 25 , I am sure it matters , When I got one of the very 1st Crickets that entered the USA yes I had to wait 6 mos , I said dam no safety, The guys over the pond said Stupid American don't cock it until your ready to shoot,, Now I have a Huben rifle and pistol and that rule does not apply to these guns , Safety on until I am ready to shoot, Some guns need safety's Some not so much..

Ouch! Also, another reminder is to be careful handling semi-auto PCPs'. You can't decock them as they are always ready to go. Unless you're able to disconnect the air source, remove the magazine, or index it on an empty slot, it's go time once you disengage the safety.

Great reminder that we need to respect even 12FPE airguns, every year someone die from even Wally World airguns.

This is also precisely why I do not like semiautomatic airguns, you can't unload/decock them. Only safe gun is an unloaded gun.

Ouch ouch….think it is also important to stress being trained safe tactics and handling and then strictly practicing those trained processes. These are better than any mechanical safety designed.

One of the guys from the way back times, putting a .22 pistol in his waistband, it went off, missed his pecker but not his foot.
He was a idiot, later succumb to substance abuse.

Only safe gun is an unloaded gun.

Thats what i feel too as a absolutely novice on firearms, or should i say self taught on the mean streets of Denmark, which as you can read above are full of idiots.

Just last week 2 accidental shootings here with bird hunters, one got a few pellets in the face, another one in the leg, so even getting as skilled / educated as the " man " would like you to be before he trust you with a firearm, well not much of a guarantee.

Another reason why I love the Leshiy 2. Fold it, and it's safe.

Also, with normal pistols, a holster is always a part of safety. People normally just don't walk around with pistols in their hands waving them around. That would be bad. A pistol is supposed to be holstered until the moment you need it.

Edit: oops, I was thinking GK1, not the full size K1. Anyway, they do make holsters for the GK1.

Also, many of them are compromised by the way we adjust our triggers. We can talk about safe gun handling forever, but we all know, as a practical matter, we can't keep a rifle pointed in a harmless direction 100% of the time, it can't be done. It's far better to decock or unload before moving, and some rifles, as the Taipan Veteran are designed to easily accommodate that strategy.

I also think there is a huge difference between not being able to point a rifle in a harmless direction 100% of the time, and walking around without the safety on, with the firing finger positionned in front of the trigger.

Absolutely. I think what you described falls into the stupid category. But my point, as a rule, safeties should not be trusted.

Nobody even said his finger was on the trigger it’s your assumption that it was such. Anyways you know how many guns have gone off from being dropped, it does happen and yes we’re talking about a gun that you can’t decock. I don’t know many people who walk around hunting and wait till they see there prey before loading there clip but hey maybe You do and that’s where the old saying comes from “to each there own” stay safe brother

Was taught firearms saftey from the time I was 5yrs old and had it drilled into up into my teenage yrs.. But it only takes 1 mistake to get you hurt badly, a distraction such as a friend talking to you etc.. glad it wasnt worse then what it was, if slung on shoulder and fallen could of went thru back of his head.
