Any reason why I couldn't make the throat in the valve .300 and take it a tad deeper then round out the bottom of the transfer port part in the valve and make a custom poppet to .345 ish and add weight to the hammer I have a spare valve and I want to be able shoot 34 gr 22 cal faster and 34 gr slugs faster I can get 930fps with 34 gr pellets and 900 fps with slugs I want to see a 1000fps I have heliboard and 700 bottle on it

Alternatively you could make a custom poppet that is thinned only in the throats presence, if stock allows. If you give the poppet stem dimensions and current throat I could tell you how much is necessary to equal .3" porting.

The benefit of that is you don't need to tweak anything but a very replaceable poppet/stem.

What is the current stem diameter and throat OD?

I'm not sure off the top of my head I don't have a caliper handy either I believe the stem is .125 if I remember correctly I have it down to .100 I think in the throat

You can safely go down to .08" without a sweat, I have gone much further, but without knowing that stem material and some other stuff I can't personally recommend it, but definitely to .08".

Any way you could try to dry fit/slide some drill bits into the valve throat to get an idea of its OD?

So the valve is .210 x .250 throat and the transfer port is .190 which I could punch out to .200 with a .100 or .090 valve stem so I would punch out the throat to .300 x.310 ish and make a .350 poppet and thin the stem to .090 ish was my plan and if necessary add more hammer weight

A .09" stem only needs a throat @ .23" to flow enough for .2" porting forward of itself. If the valve was originally .125" then even that only needs a .25"~ throat for .2" porting forward of it.

The next question you'd have to ask, can your bolt probe flow equal to .2" porting around it? I don't know if the Redwolf has a retracting probe or if it resides in the barrel during the shot cycle.

The .1" stem you have currently can handle FULL bore porting @ .22" with a ~.253" throat.

I personally advise against touching the throat as you'll only make the valve more difficult to open. Although I am unsure if the throat is .25" currently or .21" x .25" which would be equal to .23", which if it is, the .09" stem alone will suffice.

The valve will for sure flow enough, but as I said the next question is will the bolt probe if its non-retracting.

So I punched my valve out to .217 x.270 deep and transfer port to .217 which is about maxed for transfer port planning on taking the poppet stem down to .090 yet as well that way I can tell my self the valve isn't holding me back it would be the barrel port which fine with me I have to look at the probe yet and see how big it is too

The following applies to a .22 cal barrel.

.217" would need a retracting bolt probe.

.21" porting would need a probe that is equal to .02" in diameter.

.2" porting would need a bolt probe equal to .065" diameter.

Yeah but you have to be careful not to over do it because the pellet can fall into barrel port and damage it which will mess with a be accuracy

Yea the general rule of thumb varies depending on who you ask, but I say exceeding porting of around 85% width of your caliber is akin to cause damage to the pellet upon loading, some others say 75%, 80% is definitely a happy middle ground. (My personal guns I take to 85% and have no issue)

To circumvent this limitation while going more than 80~% bore porting requires an oblong port job, such as .176" width X .264" length to achieve full bore porting in .22 cal, or .176" width x .22" length to achieve 90% bore porting in the same caliber (about the most one can run without a retracting bolt probe).

If you're shooting .217" however, you may want to take that to a max of .174"~ width for example.
