N/A The “Dark Side”

I ventured into PCP’s many years ago. Initially amazed. Accuracy and firing behavior was second to none. Got all the calibers up to to .45. Cast my own bullets. Had a pump and a scuba tank. No compressor. Wasn’t many options for them then. Suddenly, I stopped using them. Didn’t really even notice it. Started shooting springers again. Was challenged. Could just cock and load. Never went back. Got rid of everything PCP related. A word of caution to those who love pellet shooting and springers. If you must venture into the “dark side”, go in cautiously. Guess I’m not alone.

I started with a Gamo .177 from Walmart that shot like crap. In my infinite wisdom I decided that it shot like crap because it was only a .177 and low powered. Went back to Walmart and grabbed the .22 Magnum. Well golly gee that one wasn't much better.

I ended up giving up a break barrels completely and went to a Marauder and an FX Dreamline. It was a night and day difference and shot them for a year or so before learning of this company called Weihrauch and reading up on the 97K. Grabbed one in .22 cal and fell in love. That 97 sent me down the rabbit hole that I am thoroughly still lost in. I even ended up selling my Dreamline that I really did love to fund a springer purchase no regrets there either.

I have a couple. Walther Maximathor and Logun MKII Pro Thumbhole, both in .22. Not your average PCP rifle because they actually look like rifles, not the bugs from Starship Troopers. Small air cylinders easily filled with a hand pump. Great looking, fun to shoot, uber accurate. But filling PCP, watching the gauge and counting shots is still more of a PITA than a springer. And the absence of any feedback is so weird. I like them but still generally grab a springer first.

I thoroughly enjoy both. but there is just something intangible about a springer that I return to again and again.
Springers are the kings of Stockholm Syndrome. They make you feel good and then they take it all away in an instant but you keep going back because you want to make em proud

I'm a dedicated springer shooter, but I've decided to dip my toe into the shallow end of the PCP pool. On recommendation of people here, I'm going to order a Notos and a decent hand pump come payday. I've never shot or owned a PCP. I have a spare 3-9x32 Bug Buster that should be a good match for the gun. Should be fun to experiment with something totally new to me.

Bear, you`re not alone. My PCP`s more and more often stays in their cases now adays (holding their breath), when my quality springers/gas rams rifles and pistols get a lot more shooting time. It is something about the simplicity and the quality craftmanship in a high end Weihrauch, Diana, Feinwerkbau, Webley or Walther that gives me that good feeling. (Did not mention Theoben and many others quality springers, because I do not have any of them..... yet).

Cock , load , shoot , repeat. All day long and my only real overhead cost is another tin of pellets.

Pcp.. pay , continue paying..
You forgot the smiling part with pcp. That's when a nickle will cover 5 shots @ 100 yds or you smoke a starling at same distance. Love and shoot both.

I got real gund for that.🤤

Oh... And I ain't got to spend on compressor or hand pump them just to shoot once..😉
I do too. They are all real guns, but a springer will not do it. Where as i have dropped hogs with high power small caliber pcps. I like to plink but that is for it to be used as a hunting tool after.
