Brocock/BRK BRK Ghost essential accessories

Hello everyone,

I tried searching and reading some of the long threads here and couldn't find concise answers.

I got to handle a BRK ghost at baker airguns thursday. Unfortunately, it was a used carbine not the HP. I had to order one from AoA. I did notice and disliked how the charging handle blocked the safety a bit. I'll be shooting HFT and plinking with it. I'll be comparing it to the Daystate Huntsman Revere safari R in 177 that I ordered at the same time and see which I like better for HFT.

While I know accessories are a personal thing and vary per intended use. What are some accessories that people find essential or that they like alot? What are ones that you found to be a waste?

Does anyone have the PRS buttplate with the monopod. Is it better with or without it?

So far I have the following:

BRK 177 and 25 caliber barrels
PRS single shot loader 177 caliber
PRS Biathlon cocking lever
PRS extended rail
PRS buttplate without monopod
PRS bag rider
PRS Adjustable cheek riser
Form riflestock hand grip
ODB 160s moderator

I'll be mounting an Athlon Argos FFP scope and mounting a parallax wheel to it. I'll also likely add a quality bipod.

Is there anything else that I should add?

Thanks

I have a Ghost Hp in .30 and have every PRS option he offers. I believe it makes the gun so much better. I think you made a great choice. I don’t think you are missing anything.
Do you use the buttplate with the monopod or without? Any pros or cons to either other than the extra weight of the monopod?

I might consider getting a 30 caliber barrel for it down the road, or get another rifle in that caliber.

Well since there are 3 👻's in this family I can tell you what the wife likes and what I like.

Buster is a 22 carbine that I bought for hunting so the only real accessory on it is an extended rail (Saber Tactical) and a 3D printed butt hook from @NAIAD001. It has the shorter 0DB moderator on it and I just picked up a 177 HP barrel for it and working on a slug tune. (I have a huntsman for HFT that I love)

Specter is a 30 cal with the PRS extended rail, PRS cheek riser and a NAIAD001 3D printed butt hook and the longer 0DB...

I did change out the grip on both to the FAB Defense ....personal preference and I also switched the cocking handle to the left side. I find this better for me for hunting and Extreme Field Target.....The wife just switched hers over also.

Harley (Wifes ghost) is the red one you see sometimes on AGN. It is a 22 with the longer 28 inch barrel. All the PRS goodies including the PRS butt hook with monopod. She shoots this off of a bench and the mono pod wasn't stable enough for good groups so the monopod is sitting in the "parts bin" that we all have. She changed it out to the Long Shot Precision Adjustable Bag Rider Rail Mounted with Short-ELR (S) Adjustment. This item makes a huge difference when shooting off of a rear bag.

Derrick @zx10wall was visiting and did a trigger job on the Specter for me then he watched me do Buster. Derrick also did Harley's trigger at Textreme for the wife while we were there....Derrick is a wizard on the Ghost platform....

I might be missing something, but that means I need to put my coffee down and head out to the garage....Yeah that's not happening 😎

Thank you for the detailed info. Yes her red ghost was stunning.

If they make a safari version of the ghost like they did with the daystate alpha wolf among others, I'm buying it on the spot.

Setting up ones toys is a personal thing. Or...it should be. NO need to impress others.

Me...I much prefer "function" over "form". No cuteness needed on my stuff, (cars, motorcycles, guns, etc., etc.). If it doesn't make the gun...function better in some way or form, the dealer can sell the cute stuff to others.

The additions to my compact .22 Ghost -
1 - A pair of "accurate", READABLE gauges.
2 - A different grip, to better suit my hand size.
3 - A quality sight, better to see you with.
4 - A short Huma40 (original design) muffler.

I guess it may be too plain for some, but it suits me fine.

Im the same way. Now I did choose the grip because the style but it had a functional purpose. I'm not into bling. Im into quality if it makes a difference and helps with functionality.

Mike,

Where did you get the gauges and Grip? My .25 cal is at Derricks now getting the trigger done.

I only shoot bench and EFT so I find that the monopod is not used much for the way I shoot. But plate is needed most definitely.

Which grip are you using?

Team Ghost, what height scope rings? Looking to purchase one...and I am thinking due to the rail, the scope rings should be "low". thoughts?

The Ghost I just bought from Airguns of Arizona has a slight cheek riser, which is a new feature to allow you to link two magazines and move them back and forth for double the round count before reloading without having to buy the PRS cheek riser (it may be the PRS cheek riser...don't know). AoA said their latest shipment of Ghosts is the first to have the cheek riser as a stock feature. I had ordered medium height rings per the recommendation of AoA when I put my Ghost on pre-order, so I sent them back and used some high rings I already had. YMMV :)

P.S. The picatinny rail handle is not very tall, so don't be fooled by the pictures. You can barely fit your fingers inside it to use it as a handle.

Let me know what you think about the 0dB 160S moderator. I bought one with my Ghost, and I don't like the sharp high pitch crack it has. I've found out that mods are not just about decibel reduction, but also what frequencies they moderate. Some emit a lower pitch, and others a higher pitch, from the ones I've heard.

My friend has a Tanto and a Tatsu, and so I tried them out on my Ghost. The Tatsu emitted the same sharp crack as my 0dB, but the Tanto emitted a much lower pitch sound which was much more desirable to my ear. So, I'm going to test it some more to see how it affects my group size, and if the Tanto groups are the same as my 0dB (or better), I'm going to get a Tanto and sell my 0dB.

It's just a personal preference thing, so just curious what your thoughts are on the 0dB 160S :)

I cannot agree more about the pitch. I wish db meters could show that too. Sadly too often videos on them rarely do it justice and then the software in the mics so often change things and reduce them so the evaluations arent as accurate. I wish we could try them out before buying. Im certainly hoping to be able to try various ones that others have when at the field.

@MysticalDragon - got some new PRS stuff in yesterday, two different types of hand stops an ARCA to pic rail adapter and the all important PRS extended rail - installed - still deciding what or if i like. The PRS extended rail is def a keeper. Undecided about the tab stop v the round hand stop thing; so for the moment i left both on. I believe for HFT this configuration would be illegal? as only one stop is allowed? Quality was PRS perfect.- oh by the way...i have 3 extra uit rail round hand stops as they messed up my order and sent me 4 round hand stops rather than 4 UIT bolts only - yeah i paid for the more expensive things.... didn't even notice till it arrived.
My .177 Ghost as shown weighs 11 lbs 6 ounces all in - perfect!
