Shooting in the back yaaaard ISSUES?

i am limited too by distance like you but in the back yard i had to fence all around my shooting lane to keep my great dane out. cause it is legal for me to shoot on the property so not worried about sound . just keeping my buddy and the neighbors safe. smiles glad to know i am not alone in this

you should also file suit, 2nd amendment violations will give you a win once the case is appealed out of the county.
air arms, gerondoni air rifle 1803. for history and add the supreme court cases for 2A and you should be golden against the city or county or anything... on your own property.
and your fight will secure all of our rights. so good luck my friend.

What self healing targets are you shooting?
Do you have any links?
i use rubber semi-truck trailer mudflaps off ebay . you can usually get two of them for around $30 but me i got 8 24"x40" and stacked them for a 3inch thick torso sized target that can pretty much take any projectile and eat it... and along with my rubber mulch backstop behind that i can shoot 51cal at 600fpe at that foot thick backstop with 3inches of torso and you know ive recovered projectiles that are still good to shoot a second time...
and i recast the rest.
if you wish to put a string of bailing wire across that and add spinners well yay. but that is as self healing as i have found, and when the rubber mulch starts comming out i buy another mudflap to cover the rubber mulch box.
it was not quite cheap but after it is made the maintenance is cheap i spend around $30 a year to replace the mudflap covers and about the same to replace 1/16th inch steel sheets from home depot when my steel door barricades get too many holes.
no air gun projectile can get through a foot thickness of rubber mulch with a cover of semi-trailer mudflap and backed with a steel house door. not even a 51cal upto 600fpe, course i made that box 3feet thick to make sure right. had a officer come and shoot it with a 300 blackout to verify its protective rating at 3 feet thick rubber mulch and a mudflap cover the plywood box ate that 300 blackout and didnt even burp. the officer said i was verified safe for the neighbors...

thing is shooting our air guns is a 2nd amendment activity called training. also called hunting. also called bareing arms(air arms) so learn your air gun history it started back in the 1780's and in 1803 louis and clark took an air rifle called the gerondoni , a 46cal tube mag fed 22 shot repeater that had removable refillable air cylinders x3 and a hand pump. (id call that pcp all day long)
and that is the start of our air gun history. and history makes the difference cause there has never been regulation on air guns ever back then so any court case you appeal to the level of the supreme court will be won on our side due to history and the other powder burner 2A cases that the supreme court has already decided.
so it may cost you money for attorneys, but in the end you will be secureing our freedoms and rights for the air gun community. THE LAST WORD @AIRGUNZ_MILITIA(youtube)

Well I guess your going have to put up signs on your property. This Karen and Kevin will get what they want in the long run they will figure something even if it means joining the HOA committee board or even worse going to your City council asking for new laws on the books. They hate to see people happy. Please keep us updated....
paracord in emergency red 20 feet on either side the shooting lane with signage stating shooting area airguns caution enter at your own risk! on both sides of the shooting lane above the water line but less than 5 feet. will be cost effective and bells attached up near the house will alert you if someone wiggles the rope while you are shooting so you can stop and find the person.
other than that id say the constitution is on your side so get a lawyer and tell them all to pound sand.

giggles there are rats prevalent all throughout the city i live in in numbers difficult to remove them all . and ya know on this property that is my job/chore and it is not easy, and there isnt any hoa gonna tell anyone in the whole town anything about rats. and if you got some magic that can make them stop comming across into a persons property id appreciate the knowledge. cause tomcat granuals dont work, traps dont work they keep comming. and air guns only work if they are outside the walls.
and my dog is even trained to catch and kill them and they keep comming...
course i live in little mexico grand prairie texas and there is no stopping the rats in this town. they have a city ordinance requireing the spay and or neuter of cats. (dumbazzes)
so i have secretly brought feral cats and am trying to tame kittens right now. and i refuse to follow city ord and have any of them fixed from now on. cats catch rats it is that simple and that earns their keep and water for ferals but not cat food. they gotta work to eat around here... but the kittens get my great danes milkbones crushed and mixed with sour cream till they can eat solids... and that is my life. the tameing of feral kittens with an 180lb great dane watching and wondering why he cannot eat the fuzzies.
sigh...

Most of us do NOT want nor afford to be entangled in lengthy battles! Thankfully many here have the luxury of big properties. In more challenging situations you can thump your chess and fight for your “rights” and lose your ability to shoot or find creative ways to be a good neighbor. If you have kids or pets running around you probably want zero chance of them losing an eye when they are out playing on your OWN property.

What they(neighbors) don’t know won’t hurt them! How many FPE does it take to punch hole on paper? Less than 1! Trying to get 1 inch group at 50 yards with sub 12 or even better, 6-8 FPE is not easy! Reduce power and noise to absolute minimum so we all can enjoy out hobby for as long as I can and I plan on decades of enjoyment. Plus, how to shoot covertly is a fun challenge in itself!

Stay safe, stay quiet and stay shooting! But this is Murica, you do you and I do me. 🤷

Shooting anything where I live would draw helicopters like flies to stank.
Moderators are a must even on the lowest power airguns.

We can justify our rights, or perceived rights all we want. The bottom line of someone doesn’t like what you are doing, they will do what they can to stop you. It’s better they don’t know at all.

I know you said putting up a fence is cost prohibitive but this type of fencing would be perfect for those pesky kids. Just saying.

yup . smiles its very difficult to make youtube videos on current high fpe air guns without actually shooting them, but i understand ya. and that is what the small bores are for is plinking covertly.
but even my .22cal benjamin trail breakbarrel is around 25fpe when it is not desiled. the .25cal version of same is integrally suppressed. and the hatsan mod 130 .30cal is not very loud either. my .25cal avenger is my quietest airgun having both monocore baffles (drilled to 12.5mm and slid onto the barrel) and the buckrail avenger/origin suppressor and some of my personal baffles in between the two, it is movie style silencer quiet at 55fpe.
then my aea hp standard custom edition is integrally suppressed with stock baffles and my personal baffles added for a.25cal air gun that sounds like it is being cocked and shot with an empty tank but it is full and things are blowing up at 55fpe, then my aea .25cal bullpup with integral suppression and a dony fl tanto that has a regulator installed and is not exactly silenced but still pretty quiet, and next is my challenger pro .30cal that i have modded to be integrally suppressed, it sounds like a battery op toy gun like we ran around with as kids playing war but in every respect it produces 120+fpe , my aea standard big bore .357 is hanging on the wall cause it is currently not suppressed and produces over 300fpe with my lightest 125grain reload bullets, i do not shoot with pellets in this air gun, and lastly is my 51cal element max which has a dony fl emperor and extender and is still pretty loud producing over 500fpe and upto 630fpe.
that does not even consider that i am about to buy a challenger elite 51cal from terry fox. and all these to make videos with when i finish building up the protection level of my shooting area.
only one set of neighbors are caren/kevins. and they now have a 8 ft privacy screen to try and look through.there are people with airguns(well suppresesed ones) on both ends of my street that do not follow city ord and keep their projectiles on their property, and one of those is shooting over 400yards into the wood 10foot tall fence i live behind, ao i really dont cut for that covert crap, i get projectiles hitting my building i sleep in from the side and through and through. and if i find exactly who it is , they are gonna know what covert means.
they holed my caren neighbors windmill and the caren called the cops on me thinking it was me but the balistics prove it did not come from any of my airguns. so the issue is there if i want it or not.
stupid fool shooting at the 10foot tall fence not even considering what is behind it. so i am making all my shooting area bulletproof and putting that bulletproofing between that fence and my sleeping area. so any projectiles have to go through my whole backstop sideways before hitting my building.
now on the other side the idiot over there does not suppress and shoots in the air alot. again i seem to be the only one following city ordinance or giving a snot about their neighbors.
so i will continue to call the locals and let them know when i am shooting unsupressed. or shooting big bore. and the only reason i have a paper target at all is to show hits. and the self healing ruber really doesnt, the one layer of mudflap i currently have up has taken over 200 hits and has a keyhole 3/4inch diameter but does not let out any rubber mulch and i can not feel any other holes in it and i know its taken hits all over.
got most of my aea air guns fromn ben there in garden city ny. so tell him hi .

I think we have beaten this thread to death !
yup and if he dont put up an actual fence , you are correct , the signs wont mean squat.
that is why i am putting up a completely enclosed fence for the whole shooting lane on my property. i personally cannot take the chance of my dane being re--named one eyed willy. instead of duke.
and the caren neighbor, i can smell her perfume when she opens her back door, so i know when to stop shooting, hahaha. my windmill has so many dents in it its not funny but i only shoot it with small bore, i'd like to know what made that hole in my neighbors windmill. cause that is what is doing through and throughs on my building.
it makes ramset type holes with very little rifleing grooves. around 35cal. but not sure exactly because have not stopped any of the projectiles , and yeah i put a steel and wood backstop in the attic to try and catch one. you know for evidence against that covert suppressed shooter slinging projectiles across 10 yards... cause when i do catch one and bag it , well i am making a point of sueing and finding out if they have homeowners insurance...
and yeah i have already fought my 2
a battles and won, but if i need to i will fight them again, and yeah all the way to the supreme court.
i hear they are trying to bann expanding projectiles in texas , so if that passes i will be calling my airgunner seargeant friend at the local pd and asking him to come watch me break the law so he can arrest me and i can do exactly what you describe. i will secure our rights , since i am not finding anyone else willing who has the steel ball bearings for it. smiles because i am THE LAST WORD @AIRGUNZ_MILITIA(youtube)

When I was around 16 I started doing target practice in my parents back yard, my mom would take a few shots at times also. We had neighbors but also had a 6' tall fence, slats you really couldn't see through unless you were up real close. I would always use a good backstop, mostly thick phone books in a square wood box so none of pellets could stray. I would also walk through the neighborhood with my dogs and my fbw124 and go hunt down by the canals and farm fields. Only one time did a police officer question me about my rifle and probably the first time he had held a quality airgun. This was Idaho early 80s so different time. But never a problem.

Now I'm lucky to live out of town with the closest neighbor around 200 yards away. I had dirt dumped, free , along the west side on the property line then made a nice 6 foot berm of dirt. I keep my targets low and every bullet or pellet contained on my property. I have shown our neighbors and also invited them if they need a safe place to shoot. And call anytime if the sound of gunshots is bothering them.

Just me , but I think any projectile you fire , at home, should be contained on your property. Don't take any chances, show your neighbors how you contain your pellets , or invite them over to try it. I was able help a few of my stepsons friends learn some gun safety and safe shooting with .22lr . But always got the parents permission first.

Our neighbors before the new owners we have now thought it was smart to shoot into the woods or shooting towards the small fruit orchard. A guy that lives around a quarter mile or so down the road had to drive up with a map showing them their bullets were hitting his pole barn and buzzing by him out in the yard.
I had told them you don't just shoot into the woods where someone could be hiking and to keep the bullets contained on the rental property. Some people just don't have any sense and it spreads through the whole family.

Shooting lower power airguns can be just as fun and the neighbors won't hear a thing.

Just be thankful you're in Texas and not in California and a neighbor of Alyssa Milano!

thing is i wouldnt go on her property with my airgun, smiles i am a charmed fan, and if she asked me to crawl backwards into a fire i probably would.
and that is without those issues you hashlinked.
but keeping my activities on my own property and calling the local pd and letting them know i will be shooting air guns still squashwes all that drama.
no matter what state you are in.
and miss milano, if you are ever in texas your air is free here. and you can use any of my airguns. smiles
and black ice, (shaking hwead with downturned eyes) i doubt id ever be that lucky. secondly my face looks like a combination of mattew maconahey and dick van dyke. and i am unodtrusive and dont go seeking other people so if i lived next to that lady, we would probably never see one another unless she came to talk to me...
i for one know people like their privacy so i let them have it and i like mine.
smiles but i will state it here for her to know. i do appreciate all the work youve done since you were a teen. thank you for entertaining me all those years. and if anyone needs kicking off your property and i am in the state(i have an uncle who lives in santa barbra) i am at your service maam... I'm a Charmed fan as well. But using her fame and celebrity to get the SWAT team and police helicopter out for a kid killing squirrels is a wee bit extreme, don't you think? Hypocritical given her defund the police views. I doubt if the police response would have been so massive if a regular Jane Doe made the same call.

Just be thankful you're in Texas and not in California and a neighbor of Alyssa Milano!

see you lost me at airgunner on property other than their own who clearly did not ask for permission first. so she is within her rights to make that call although she was not aware of it being an air gun.
so i cannot fault her friend. if i caught someone on my property without asking and they had an air gun or anything that looked like a leag slinger,. i wouldnt ask questions. their threat would be ended.
it is always avised to ask permission when wishing to use your air gun on property other than your own.
