Element Optics just released Theos

Some March optics also include an "aperture" ring but they call it their MD Disk. My March-FX High Master 4.5-28×52 came with one but I never used it yet. Here's a little info on what it's for...

I'm curious how the new Theos stacks up against the new Vortex Razor Gen3 6-36×56, Nightforce ATACR 7-35, March 5-40x56 Gen2, and ZCO 8-40x56. I'm interested in an unbiased review from someone like Ilya (Dark Lord of Optics) or someone else from the Snipershide forum.

One feature of the smaller objective lens is to increase depth of field, March scopes in particular are known to have shallow depth of field and the reduction of the objective really helps. Interestingly I might eventually get a March high master just because of the shallow depth of field for FT. The fact Theos has an objective reduction ring means it also has shallow depth of field. My sightron S8 depth of of field is measured in inches between 10-15 yards when on 40x.

To increase depth of field on my ATN during my objective is reduced to an hole about 3/8 of an inch. Also too much light is not good for image resolution so a reduction device will help with image get clearer/not washed out during the day while maintaining low light performance, almost like having the cake and eat it too!

I dont mind admitting that i am "hating" on element,,,,,, NOT ! CUZ i had any bad experience or even ever tried one of their scopes.
Just the strange me that never really liked playing the exact same game everyone else play, and everyone just seem to be Element this - Element that.
So cheating myself out of something good or not, i look elsewhere i have to admit.

Still keeping a open mind of course,,,, maybe too open some times, and for sure you did not have to ask me twice to try one of these suckers, BUT 2800 USD that are way out of my league, and i think even if i was working and making better money it would still be out of my comfort zone.

I would like to graduate to a 34 mm tube scope next time, but to go there i would first need to buy a new gun first CUZ the scopes i have already work fine on those 2 rifles.
My old Cyclone do not have a scope, CUZ thats the Hawke one that are now on my Vulcan 3, but i am willing to swap here as i do not shoot the Cyclone much these days.

Sort of always been like that. In the early 00s ( 2006 ) i got a quad bike, no one i knew had one, hell never even seen a Dane ride one.
So i droppes a substantial wad of money on a brand new modified Yamaha raptor and took to the track, only to realize that i was the only one there with a quad and also already back then my health was in no way ready for driving on track.
So i instead took to stunting it, also something i never seen a Dane do on 1 or 2 rear wheels, so again i was pretty alone in what i did.

I do miss the boosts of adrenaline and endorphin riding it, but the thing had to go when i sold my house.
Give a a lotto win and i will get a motorcycle made for stunting , even if i am no longer 45 years old. CUZ a man gotta have some fun one way or another.

Yup, I bought a Cannondale Speed ATV, and raced motocross for a few years. I was so happy to turn 40 so I didn't have to worry about getting run over by those youngsters. Nothing says love like a 70' table top, that's a long time in the air very high, spent good money on long travel suspension and shocks to save my body. Sand Dunes was also a blast.

O yes, i did catch a little air too, enough to regret the launch some times.
But my only fall was going over a 2-3 foot ramp in a gravel pit i first drove in to show my nephew that his uncle could fly, something went wrong and i was off to the side, and i think i broke my tail bone, not much sitting down or sleeping on the back in the following weeks.
Also took a few years before i could not feel it lounging too hard in the office chair in front of the computer.
Also the Raptor not really a track machine, but the seller also found out of that after 1 drive, so the Ohlins dampers and other upgrade kit on it i got for free. ( Durablue rear axle - leager A arms and white brothers exhaust )

The club i joined, actually in the same town i live in now, well they had 1 good jump, there also was a larger jump ( see pic ) but here you really had to overshoot it and land on flat ground, and i was never that brave, though a few times i did land just before the drop off, which are just a mess, so thank god the drop off was just 4-5 feet or so, so i could kind of land and then skip across that.

I was still smoking back then ( both things ) so really i went on the track all alone, got up in #3 gear and then did 2-3 laps in 15 minutes and i was all done for panting for 45 minutes until it was my turn again.

It dont seem like they have changed the layout of the track since i was last there is 2007 or so.

I don't own a scope that cost much more than $200. I still hit what I aim at. No hate towards anyone or any brand, but cheap works for me. I do 99 percent of my shooting at home and ranges are rarely over 50 to 60 yards.
You are absolutely right. In 50-60 yards there are a lot of “budget” priced scopes that will focus to 10 or 15 yards and will do everything you need.

I'm just glad we have the option so I can afford to scope everything I own without swapping scopes around. Nothing against high end glass, I just don't need it for what I do. I suspect there are plenty more that feel the same way.

Yes! Just like a Corolla can get me to work just fine. Good to have choices for some that can afford it. I will most likely not buy this scope just like I never bought a nexus.

I bought a Rapter too and got a late start into ATV's as I was already in my 40's. Most moto tracks had the typical jumps so if one didn't get enough speed to make it to the down ramp that person was going to get hurt bad. I always wished I could of found a track designed for novice riders with various length table top jumps to learn on.

My sons and I had fun jumping at the dunes. Fun times.....

O man i would have killed for a place like Glamis to wheel around..
But no such places in Denmark, everything are someones farm or a protected wildlife sanctuary.
I turned 40 in 2006 so a early onset of panic age i think. :)

But yeah the local motocross track worn in for 2 wheelers, well when you get there with your 4 wheeler you have to be careful.
The track did have a few doubles back then but i see they are now changed to table top which are fine for the novice rider.

I would like to get back into stunting, but i think a 2 wheeler would be more fun for a somewhat age impaired guy like me,,,,,, show them punk kids who is the boss / grandfather.

The street price for a Razor HD Gen III 6-36x56 is $3,999.99 . So the Theos is far under that price, with the same options on it.
Just cant agree! Here's a link to everyday pricing..
I've paid hundreds less thru another vendor on snipershide.com...

People need to remember that Element isn't just an airgun optic company. These scopes are in the same tier as the Vortex Razor Gen 3, the glass is made in the same place, but the price is a few hundred under the price of the Vortex. This should be a good hit in the PRS scene, and help put Element in the minds of many of those guys.
I understand and I get it. I would say the optic is in the same price tier, but we don’t know if it is in the same quality tier. It should be for the price. The fact that it is made in the same place is great, but doesn’t always mean the scope is as good. Let’s not forget that either. They are made to different specs from the companies that hire LOW (or any other manufacturer) to build them.

It definitely should catch the eye of PRS guys and others with similar specs, but many (those PRS Guys included) will want to see them perform first as well. Luckily, Element has been around for a few years building up their name before jumping in the deep end. Still seems like a big leap to jump into that very competitive price point, but is still just below many of the Tier 1 scopes. As someone else mentioned, the Vortex can be had cheaper (and as I mentioned in another thread, I got mine for $2000). Elements don’t usually have discounts until they have been closed out, so it will be a tough sell to get someone off one of the top PRS scopes for years to go with somewhat of a newcomer.

2999.99 through them.

3999.99 is from vortex own site....so....??
Nobody pays $4k, and $3k is just a standard price that sellers can beat if they want, but just don’t advertise below. Many people get them for well less than that too.

Either way, we are comparing to a scope that is very well respected for many years. Others can also pay a few hundred more for scopes like the ATACR and others. They have a tough job of saying come try this and save $200 or more or pay more for this when there is years of data in a scope tracking at 100% across thousands of reviews.

Either way… I hope they succeed. It is just a tough spot.
