Hunting African BIG game! Really?

I couldn't agree with the title any more. Hunting African Big game! Really? Killing a African animal, in a fenced enclosure, in Texas, in a stand built just for that? Calling it big game hunting is like stocking a pool in the backyard with ocean fish and calling it deep sea fishing. There is no hunting or any real skill involved, all you need is money to pay for the privilege of shooting the animal and brag about what you killed...sad.

Makes me think of the megadeth song Countdown to Extinction.
"Kill them few feet from the cages, point blank, you're so courageous"

The perfect shot? When it had stopped would've been the perfect shot. I'll take a shot on a walking deer if I'm using a center fire with high velocity, but an airgun? My opinion, they're a little too slow to do that. By the time you hit the animal that's out 50 yards or so, itll be hitting too far to the edge of that 8" kill zone.

This is almost as bad as the guy who did the wild boar hunt with a gamo break barrel. Literally walked up to it, muzzle to the head, and shot it. Wtf...

About 15 years ago at my cousin's ranch, a black bear climb the ladder of a water steel tank and got trapped inside, being unable to get out.

Fortunately my son and my nephew found the bear still alive. They just have at hand a Sumatra air rifle in .22 Cal and bow and arrow with broadheads.

My nephew decided that if he had to kill the bear it would be with the Sumatra with a shot at 4 yards to the brain.

My nephew and my son found the way to move the ladder inside the steel tank and went away for a couple of hours.

When they came back to the steel water tank, the bear was gone.

On that context my nephew could had wrote a thread in this forum called:

"The adventure and challenge of big bear hunt with a Sumatra .22 Cal air rifle".

Shooting an animal trapped in an enclosure, no matter the size, is not hunting and should never be confused with actual hunting.
I hunt and when I do, taking an animal may or may not happen but it does not reduce the satisfaction of having hunted. Canned hunts are for people who want to kill rather than participate fully in the process of humanely harvesting a wild animal.
I realize there is a contingent of people who see no issue with canned hunts but for me they are a disgusting perversion of sport hunting.

id love to see a vid of someone popping one of those big mean mountain gorillas with a pellet gun .. my guess is after its done roughing them up theyd wind up being its girlfriend ...

Why in the world would you ever take a shot on a an animal quartering towards you? Terrible shot.
It's a good shot for the vitals if you have enough power to break through the shoulder if needed. I take squirrels all the time with that placement. Larger game its not the best option for lower power. Also, they tend to see you from that angle.

This D bag was in a blind so it most likely didn't see him. Regardless his shot placement was more of a gut shot. Probably bled the damn thing out from blowing out the main artery in the leg.
