What happened to common decency?

Anyone else but me tired of people PMing about classifieds saying they want it and you send them your info for payment and even cut them a deal when they ask and then they just ghost you?

What the heck is wrong with people nowadays? If you don't want it and backed out that's fine, SACK UP and tell the seller you're no longer interested.

It sucks when I have the decency to play first come first served and hold an item for someone showing interest and they do this crap. Then by the time you give up and go to the 2nd or 3rd interested buyer they have already scratched their itch somewhere else.

It obviously just annoys me lol, I'll jump down off my soap box now.

Seems to happen not just here but everywhere..
One very recent example: Posted a $150 dollar item on craigs.. offered to let her go for $50...got a bite..he was going to be out of town til today...fine I'll keep holding it for ya...I figured I'll make this guy a sweet deal because he is a struggling musician in a band.
"Two 6 packs and the pedal is yours!"
His response was "No thanks man."
And then he blocked me...wtf?

My take is he was offended by the offer..
Oh well his loss.

If someone asks you to hold an item, get a non-refundable deposit, otherwise sell it to whoever pays first.
This wasn't asked of me, but I was asked to lower the price which I said okay to and they just went offline. Males no sense to me but yeah, if someone actually asks you to hold something they should definitely pay or bow out respectively. I know it's thr internet and we don't all really "know" each other, but I can only imagine how they conduct themselves with the rest if their lives.

He was an alcoholic in recovery like many musicians over the age of 40.

I'm a recovering alcoholic and even in my "12 pack and a pint of whiskey a day" days I still managed to work 50+ hours a week, pay all my bills, and meet my commitments. Think I functioned better then lol.

A pet peeve of mine is some seem not to understand the written English language, FIRM. If you state the price is Firm doesn't mean bring fabric softener and haggle the price with me it means the price is set it's Firm. Craigslist, Offerup and ect. Next person tries that with me and wastes my time will hear me incrementally raise the price, two can play at that game.

Common decency: It's reported lowly cowards are sucker punching strangers with head shots?

So simple a caveman could figure it out.
Chicago rules; No pinky swearing, FIRST to place any frog skins on the barrel head, buys player a spot of time with the deal.
Any failure to meet the terms or complete said deal, will cost that failed player his barrel head frog skins and then gentlemen the game continues batter up.

Common sense isn’t common and our normal practices and customs differ, not to mention generational differences present online. Sites like eBay seem to eliminate a lot of the worry associated with tire kickers, hagglers, and fickle buyers. Reading AGN threads we see some of all sorts of personalities here. Then we see variances on different days (moods). If people are taking advantage of your consideration, contemplate conducting sales differently in order to get a different result.

An example I can share is that I’ve experienced a seller who seemed offended that I asked questions about an item I wished to buy. I left the guy alone when it was apparent that he wanted a buyer who just wanted to buy it quick because he felt he’d priced the item fairly. I stopped communicating with the guy and bought the same item from someone else. Not only did I buy it but I felt that I accommodated that other seller for his patience in communicating with me even though the deal didn’t go exactly as I’d anticipated. The small stuff was just that. My point is that a lot of the time we don’t have to deal with BS, we make choices that lead up to it or we may just go with it. When we go with it, that’s a choice. We don’t have to. Ultimately we have choices, but annoyance under the circumstances described in the initial post is understandable.

What do you expect from a secular and increasingly illegitimate society? Don't take offense to it. Be a leader.
That's the problem, people are just getting worse since social media brought us all together lol. That and the "acceptance/everyone is a winner" crap that's going on in the public school system. I don't foresee it getting better anytime soon either.
America is in a race to the bottom anymore.

As Ann Landers used to advise with people taking in a friend or relative in your home. Right up front, communication is essential. Set up specific limits to time to wait and stick to it. When that expires, move on.
