Ok so not exactly twins. Maybe siblings.

Love these pistols. I've had the .177 compact for a few years now and just picked up the .22 Standard.
The .177 shoots the H&N FTT 8.44gr and I've been testing with the JSB 15.9gr in .22. Both are shooting .5 - .75" groups at 40 yards - rested on a bag with handgun scope.

I have the same exact standard as you. Love it also. Was bored yesterday so I took it out and starting shooting grasshoppers at anywhere from 4 to maybe 12 yards. It was so much fun I went through about 400 jsb 15.9. I have the hammer spring backed all the way out. 570 on the chrony. Only got about 40 or 50 of the little devils but I had a blast. Using a Hawke red dot but not too excited about it. How do you like the holosun?

Me too...

A shot with Holosun, red dot sights on both guns. Difficult to see, but the grip panels are different, as are the sights ! Both have "palm swell" grips, but I much like the upper guns grips better.

A current shot with the lower AP16, with a Burris, Scout Scope, the rear sight removed, and the "Fat Boy" swapped for a Tatsu suppressor. Soon to get a Huma M40, two segment muffler. Happier than I thought I'd be with the scope. Easier to hold on target, than I thought it would be. Took about 10 shots to get on target. The scope is a 1/4 moa adjustment, so it took a few turns and shots to get centered, but it's there.
I think I'll keep it this way for a while.

Mine ?

Watch "Pyramyd Air". They occasionally have "remanufactured" guns for sale a little under the normal price. My gun on the bottom is a remanufactured version. Zero problems, zero surface defects...that I've found ! Sometimes, like mine, the box is a little beat up for whatever reason.

The top guns grip panels are G10, plastic that's been machined to create the surface. Very nice feel. They have a lot of surface finishes and colors to choose from. Both "flat" (standard) and "palm swell", that helps fill the hand better.

The lower gun, the grips are rubber. Not as thick as I'd like, and the "palm swell" isn't in the right place for my hand, but...they work !

John - I really like the Holosun red dots. They are priced in the middle of the cheap ones and a Trijicon.
I also have a slight astigmatism so most red dots do the starburst thing on me. Something about the Holosun reticles - they are always nice and clear to my eyes.

Matthias - not sure if you were refering to the blacks gun's grips or mine, but the lower is a Hogue 1911 wrap around grip. It's a little thin and I would like a bigger palm swell. The Ataman walnut handle is really nice - I just wish I could find another in stock somewhere.

I also have astigmatism, plus bifocals (pain in the rear !) .
While I also like the Holosun sights (have many), I've found that if you keep the dot brightness down to the next step or two, much of the "starburst" effect lessens to the point of being almost invisible. I shoot at a small black dot (target), so keeping the brightness down, also lets me see the target dot easier.

I've tried many dot sights. From the cheap ones (NEVER buy again !!), to the ACOG, Trijicon. I always turn the brightness to where it's "just..."
visible.
The Meprolight, M21, is interesting that it automatically provides a minimum brightness, no matter the ambient light. No batteries required on that one.

I have both red dot Trijicon (MRO) "reflex" and Tritium/fiberoptic, prism, powered ACOG.

Per my above comment, I'm guessing the ACOG ?

Completely different mechanisms. The standard red dot is a standard LED (light emitting diode), reflex sight, that probably 99% of the red dot sights are designed after. Powered by a battery connected to the LED. The ACOG is a prism sight powered by the fiberoptic/Tritium. Actually they do have battery powered ACOG's, but they are in the minority, and expensive.

All prism sights are a great boon for us folks with "old" eyes. The dot (horse shoe / delta etc.) is always VERY crisp, with sharp edges all around. There's more brands that make the prism sight than just Trijicon. Type in "prism" onto the Optics Planet search... I've got a couple and all are VERY nice.
The LED powered reflex sights (like Holosun), you have to fiddle with the brightness to get a good sight picture and a somewhat clear dot (delta). It is somewhat doable, but no matter, the dot will never match the "prism" design.

Holosun, Trijicon (MRO), Leupold, (some Vortex) and maybe a couple others are pretty good, if you keep the light intensity low to keep the "star" pattern minimal. I have at least one copy of each reflex sight mentioned above. The Holosun and the MRO, Trijicon are my favorites.
I've found that the cheaper red dots (non-mentioned !), no matter how low the brightness is, it still a crappy sight picture.

The LED, reflex powered sights battery's, the battery's will last a LONG time, like Holosun (50,000 hours) pioneered (and now some have copied). While the prism, battery powered sights are more battery power hogs (2000 or 3000hours). Except for the ACOG, Trijicon, that is fiber optic / Tritium powered, which will last as long as the fiber optic isn't damaged.

Just to clear things up a little -

The Trijicon, ACOG, is a prism sight, you (no one) should see...no...star, no rough edges, nuthin ugly with those sights ! Prism sights are clean reticles.

And actually, the Holosun, MRO AND the RMR ( reflex Trijicon), I don't actually see a "starburst". I see more of an infinity symbol. Or an "8" laid on its side at about a 30° angle. Why that shape...no clue !

LED, reflex, (all brands) yes...not sharp edges.
Prism, (all brands tried) no...very sharp, clean edges.

@ctshooter, that's my fault for taking this thread off topic. I apologize for that. But, with that being said, between you and @MikeVV I just got a wealth of information that is truly helpful. Thank you both for that. I really appreciate what was said about how different eyes see things differently. I have a eotech holographic with magnifier on a rifle and love it. My buddy hates it. Go figure.
For the ap16 I want something light weight. And quality. My airgun collection are the only Mercedes I own so I don't mind spoiling them.
Weather its the trijicon or holosun I end up with I should act quick. Last night was another 21/2 hours of blasting grasshoppers. Short distance, hard to hit, mind of their own, moving targets are a blast. I actually chased one around for two mags worth before I finally got him. Neighbors think I'm losing it.
The accuracy sure isn't the me, It's the Ataman.

@Apohlo - they must be fraternal twins as mines a .177. :D I got my .177 from Krale a few years back. YoDoyle must've asked me 20 times to sell it to him, LOL.

@maxtrouble - the triggers are good, not great. There's a good amount of adjustment to tune it pretty well, but it is missing a 2nd stage travel adjustment so there is a little bit of creep on the break which you just can't get rid of. They way I've set mine they are more single stage now with a very brief and light 1st stage.
