PayPal! Beware...

I have bought at least 10 airguns using PP,never had a problem....but I have not bought one in the last month.

On ebay you see a lot of gun-related stuff, plus you can buy and sell pellet guns.....

I know that some states and districts do not allow pellet guns to be shipped there.

to say PayPal is a terrible platform is so da. I have used them over 2000 times and only had one problem and it was fixed....

A terrible platform????wtf...explain to the happy user why that is so....maybe I can learn something .

Ok I will check out stripe,com.....

Anyhow I do know it is frustrating to not be able to get what you want and the BS that can happen,I hope the best for the poster...

As much as I hate to call defeat on this one... But, I am.

I've been a pretty happy user since about 1999. Back then, I bought firearms, ammo, any part I wanted and more. Then the rules changed. No more firearms or Ammo... Ticked me off, but I got over it.

Running a small Airgun business these days from my home, many of my customers and clients use PayPal. It's just easy. PayPal credit is like having a free loan. 6 mos with no interest if paid off. It was convenient.

Not an issue one with them until now. I called again today requesting info as to why I was "permanently banned". Still, they could not give me an answer..? I find that odd... They'll ban me and in the same breath tell me "I don't know why we banned you but you are." Oh well... Feck em.... 😏 I'm bitter... LOL. Being accused of doing something wrong when I know I haven't done anything. Just burns me a little.

I have also been with Paypal from the beginning. Thanks for the heads up, I am new to this site and am getting more into airguns. One thing I note here is that a lot of sellers want payment via Paypal friends and family. That is a huge red flag on the photography forum I use to buy and sell (Fred Miranda). Paypal offers buyer protection with the 3% fee involved which I gladly pay, but Paypal friends and family gives you no protection as a buyer.

I know someone who just recently bought a FX Impact M3 bronze that the dealer sent an invoice to him using paypal while in the shop to his email on his phone so he could make the purchase because he did not have the card that was attached to his paypal account and according to the dealer he never has an issue with paypal. Now that being said I have no idea how the dealer worded the invoice but the purchase went through without a hitch.

Yep this has been happening for awhile. Being quite active in the powder burner world before coming here I know several small companies that were only selling accessories and training, no actual firearms yet they were hit with policy violations and had their accounts frozen for 6 months as well. I have said in several threads on airgun forums there is no point whatsoever in doing anything but friends and family payments when dealing in this hobby. If you ever have a problem PayPal won’t end up helping you and may very well shut you down. They are a joke.

I have been with Paypal since the year 2000. I would like to point out a few things. Overall, I have been happy with them. Their security is very good for buyers and sellers, but times they are a changing. I too, until recently, believed that the insistence on F& F even if I paid the fee, was a big red flag. I was wrong, and so are most people who now believe that. Years ago, people use Paypal Friends and Family to avoid paying the 3.5% fee. I never did and never will.

Here's what changed: the government, seeing the volume of $$'s passing through PP believes a lot of people were using it to run businesses collect money, and avoid paying taxes. In some cases, this was true. So the government forced Paypal to start reporting anyone who receives $600 in a single transaction. Basically the seller has to keep track of every transaction. I know in my case I have NEVER made money on a PB or airgun. I always lose 20 to 50% of my money, so all my transactions will be "non-deductible losses". No tax consequence but a big paperwork hassle. So, the reason for wanting F&F have changed, and it's not the "red flag" it once was.

I am not like others in believing I have simple solutions to complex problems. Most individuals do not have a way to accept CC payments. I guess we are headed to Money Orders via snail mail, personal checks, Certified checks, and there are issues with those as well, and are certain to slow down e-commerce. I'm pretty sure some of these new rules are driving the trend to crypto currency, but I am too old and have little desire to learn a new payment system as complicated as it is.

K9air, you've motivated me. Just emptied my (pretty big) PP account back into my bank account. Screw them. Ive been using PP a long time and have heard countless horror stories such as K9's. If I need something that has to be purchased I'll just move some money in there and do the deal. I'm always buying some sort of airgun , powder burner or reloading items and its probably just a matter of time for me. Always was apprehensive about leaving a lot of $$$ in the PP account, for them to possibly lock up.. No more.

Sorry this happened to you K9air, its ridiculous and infuriating.

Thank ya 218bee...

They locked and tied up about $8k for the next 180 days. I can't pull the funds, I can't remove the credit cards on file, and my PayPal credit line is just in limbo. Until they decide to release the funds, I'm at the mercy of of some soft shelled panty waste. Who has to make the world around them know it prefers it's designated pronoun... I'm still a little bitter I suppose. 😂 It's just not as easy as closing down the accounts linked to PP. Everything is tied in together. What a f'n pain in the backside.

I know I've said I'm done dealing with them. It's a matter of pride I guess. I have honestly done nothing wrong. Maybe they looked my name up and see that I'm a right wing nut job who refused to drink the Koolaid, and supported the Orange Man... I dunno... 😒

I just got banned last week for use PayPal, because i bought an accu shot monopod for my air gun. Been with PayPal since 2001. I called PP, they didn't gave an answer, I didn't do anything wrong, the site that I purchased the monopod offer PAYPAL so I used PP because it was quick and convenient.

Man that screenshot... 😡 I'm so tired of seeing it. Mine has a big red triangle with explanation mark in the center. Makes ya feel like a real winner seeing that with the "You can no longer use PayPal."

It sucks knowing that we did nothing wrong. But, hey... They're looking out for the community by labeling us a threat. Makes ya feel all fuzzy inside. 😖

Damn! I've done hundreds of thousands of dollars of business through papal over the last few years and never knew they could lock up your funds. That's not only wrong, it's terrifying. When I get into work this morning, I'm transferring the money I keep there to my checking account. My money is mine to do with as I please. Paypal's fascist policies should be illegal.

I'm right there with ya. Over 20 years of business with them and suddenly they go full Fascist. They only locked $8k on me. Had I known, the funds would have been transferred back to my business checking.

I had to scramble to alert those paying invoices to not pay with PayPal.

PayPal will allow money to come in. Bastards... They'll enjoy the free use of that money for 6 mos. Then, they will release the funds.

I sense upcoming action suits against them for these extremes... Small business owners can't afford this.
