Is there love for the RAW HM1000x chassis rifle?

This gun somehow slipped under my radar, as far as I heard RAW enjoys an excellent reputation for quality. It seems in the average range for power. I'm looking at the 30 cal version of this platform. Seems to produce about 75 FPE and the polygonal barrel appears to shoot slugs as well as pellets.

Let's hear about performance from some users / owners! Sounds as if this can be a real nice and backyard friendly moderate powered , smooth operating unit.

Well, backyard friendly? Not so much — at least the HP version. Excellent accuracy, precision and consistency of shot placement are the strong points. Yes, it’s got a bark. But it expels quite a breath of air. Mine is doing 30 foot pounds with JSB Monster Redesigns at 946fps average.

My .30 cal RAW HM1000x is a pre-AF gun, although the AF built guns are generally well respected as well. Mine shoots the 44.75's very comfortably and accurately at 880 fps, or ~77 FPE. I have never had any issues with it.

As far as Chassis vs LRT stock, I have used both and find myself more accurate with the laminate LRT stock. Nothing inherently more accurate about the gun in either stock, I can just get more stable personally with the LRT version. Heavier weight of the wood stock doesn't hurt either. Pretty clever how AF accommodates easy HS adjustment with the chassis stock.

RAW .30 cal isn't normally used in the same sentence with 'backyard friendly'. .30 cal guns are normally kind of loud, and RAWs are not known for using air efficiently. And that extra air coming out of the muzzle makes extra noise. I haven't been too enthused with the appearance or function (quieting) of the AF off-set or current big can shrouds. Neal Clague is my go-to for RAW quieting shrouds.

The accuracy of pellets in my .30 cal is definitely challenged well by NSA 43.8's at my current tune level. So with a bit more HS I'm sure the barrel would work fine with heavier NSA slugs as well. But I can leave it alone and shoot 44.75 pellets and 43.8 slugs very well.

All in all very nice guns.

It’s a great build and accurate gun , but I wouldn’t call it backyard friendly . Has some bark to it .

I understand a 30 cal is not mouse fart quiet no matter what. It seems RAW started with an offset mod / shroud and now they have a real long can in 2 pieces. I even saw a video where a guy took the 2nd end part off a put a donny ronin in it's place and it sounded REAL quiet. But that's why I posted, to get real world facts.

You need to change your pellet weight. It's 50fpe at that speed with the 25.4gr Monster RDs.

I had a .30 pre AF and was a great gun. Mine was shooting I think 900fps with the 44.75gr. Very accurate. Fun gun to shoot. However mine was I think 48"? The new ones I think are a couple inches shorter? Ended up being too long and heavy for my liking but man fun to shoot.
