daystate delta wolf worth the money?

is there anybody out there with first hand experience with this rifle? are they really worth the high price tag? im torn between buying a new impact and a used delta wolf i have my eyes on, i love the feature of the delta wolf like the built in chronograph, quick fps adjustments etc... are the electronics dependable or are there problems..


 
 

I own the FX Impact mk 2 and the Impact m 3. I've recently purchased the Delta Wolf in .22 cal. Based on my experience with the FXs, manual tuning , etc., I must say the computer programming of the DW justifies the price difference. 

I find the Impact and the Delta Wolf to be equally accurate. However, the touch-screen tuning of the DW sets it apart from the Impact. I might add, the trigger and cocking of the DW is a tad superior to that of the Impact.

I wish the DW had the high-capacity magazines of the fine FX Impact.

It's a personal decision, of course, but I do not regret purchasing the Delta Wolf. The Delta Wolf is one fine and well-built rifle.

I can only speak for the Red Wolf hp 22 and the pulsar 177 hp , both have been trouble free for well over 10,000 shots! And I also have an impact mk2 25cal pp and have had some trouble with the impact after two weeks but since then I have shot well over 10,000 slugs with out a problem. The delta Wolf offers a chrony but I already have a chrony. The delta’s abilities to adjust the FPS pending ammo and the correct tune for the gun would be nice but generally I shoot slugs and once I find the right slug and tune that’s what I stick with. Maybe the red wolf would suit your needs but that’s not a bullpup. I like both manufacturers but I do prefer the electronic guns, but that’s me. Good luck with your decision

"Worth the money" is subjective at best. I know I'll never own one (though I'd love to). The whole concept of an adjustable, self contained unit is just too cool. Push some buttons, watch the readout screen & done! Think of the $ saved on chronograph, tuning tools, different pellets, etc. I'm hoping they go the way of flat screen TV's. Those can be had for under $200 when at one point they all cost over $1,000. I'm sure I'm being overly optimistic on that one. Conceptually I think they're worth it (easy to say when I know I don't have to shell out the $).

I have a .30 as well as .25. The. 30 has been back to AoA twice, once for the cocking lever jamming and once to fix the chronograph housing which was causing harmonic issues.

The .25 is trouble free and shoots both the 33.95 and 25.39 well with the heavy being a bit more accurate (905 FPS).

The .30 shoots the 50 and 44 grain well but nothing above and beyond what any other high end PCP does. 

Have had no luck with slugs from either caliber.

Almost bought the .22 Nate from the Airgun channel was selling but after a chat with some owners in the UK decided not to.

One thing that makes me hesitate to think that this is the "Holy Grail" (yet) comes from AEAC's coverage of the 2021 EBR when at 14:40 he interviewed Derrick Wall and Mike Bricker. Here is a link:

At 48:28 Derrick mentions that he cleans the barrel/chrony a real frequent amount of shots, like every 150 and Mike says that he does it about every 400 shots. I think that it would suck to have to clean the chrony every tin of pellets. Also, you will have to condition it afterward. I'm not a huge fan of cleaning my barrel for this reason. It seems that they should make the chrony interface wireless so you can either just swap it out, or use an external one if you want.

I don't know if this is a real gripe or not, but I am sitting on the fence waiting to see what the Gen2 has to offer.

The Delta Wolf is certainly a sweet platform. I haven’t had mine very long but absolutely love it! The problems that Daystate had with the early versions seem to have been worked out, so I wouldn’t worry about that. As far as cleaning the barrel…I’ve put an awful lot of pellets through my .30 and have only cleaned it a couple of times. The ART, LW Poly barrel really doesn’t foul that fast. As far as the housing that protects the chronograph, it does get dirty from lead but without the housing, the chronograph could get damaged. It’s super easy to clean with an 8” piece of wood dowel or cleaning rod and a rag. I put a thin rag over the dowel, push it in and out a couple of times and I’m done. It literally takes about two minutes. The Delta Wolf is ergonomic, well made, beautiful, super accurate, consistent and best of all, it’s very adjustable and it’s extremely easy to change the settings. And, because it’s all electronic, the settings(reg. pulse and voltage) are 100% repeatable. Oh, and the trigger is absolutely superb! My boys and I have some great PCP’s and love them all…Impact, Maverick, Red Wolf HP, HM1000x, Condor, S510, etc. but the Delta Wolf is a pretty unique PCP in design and function. We love ours!

I'm sure I'm over 50k rounds in mine in 177, 22, and 25... mostly 22. It's big attraction is versatility with precision. I currently have about 40 custom tunes for multiple pellets in the 3 calibers that I have barrels for. They are simple to create and test. You will need a notepad to keep track, though 😉 The only failure I can think of was a pin in the cocking lever that came loose a few hundred rounds ago and caused a jam. Easy, cheap fix with a slightly tighter pin but that's over 40k through it. Valve is all stainless and has shown no wear. The hammer has no sliding resistance... only a return spring that keeps it center... so no wear. The electronics have been faultless like the RW and they have updated the tables a lot since the beginning , so they find the velocity in 2 or so shots in factory mode. In general, I wouldn't say they are more accurate than any other quality rifle but should be as good. The latest 22 barrel I have in mine seems more accurate and less batch sensitive than my well documented RW... Wally.

I really enjoy the ergonomics more than Wally and have been using it for most all my competitive needs and plinking. So easy to change to low power for some cheap plinking or offhand practice or crank it and do some long range. I need to step up and practice more to do it justice though.

Whether it's worth it is really a personal decision . I would say that if you don't PLAN TO USE the versatility, there are probably better options.

i hate tinkering and tuning so i thinkk the delta wolf would make a good choice for me, i like that i can change a tune with just a few touches of a button instead of spending time tinkering to get a tune, im just stuck now deciding buying a new one or buying the used one, the used one is a 30 cal and i really dont know if i want another 30 cal, i already have a maverick 30 cal, but i guess i can always just buy a barrel change.

My excuse of not getting one is in waiting for the next version so I can change profile/setting using an app on my phone and watch shot data on my phone too. Plus they need to give more barrel options like 700-800mm slug barrels for the really long shots. Problem with technologies especially with software is that you will always be behind/need constant updates to keep “current”.


it is a great platform however the down side is that there is no support for the platform like FX where you have endless caliber and length of barrels to reconfigure it right now and I don’t see that “issue” going away. However most people likes to set it and forget it so not really an issue for most. 





if you got the money and love airguns then it’s definitely worth it, resale value is good so you can always get most of your money back if it doesn’t work out.

I would not buy anything new, and expect a strong resale value. Strictly speaking, "most" means over 50%, so yeah, that's a reasonable assumption, but I doubt that was the intended message. The DW is a very interesting and advanced design. Is it worth the money? As always, whose money? My RW has been trouble free, and is very accurate. But, the DW gets a bit too deep in its gadgetry to suit me, but absolutely great if your interest is in tinkering and tuning.

In my opinion no it’s not. I have the M2 and M3 impact along with the Maverick and Dreamline and several RedWolfs all of which are as accurate as each other.when I bought the DeltaWolf I was expecting it to be a game changer well it’s not worked out that way at all it’s less a accurate than the RedWolfs and impacts and I am lowering track of how many times it has been back to Daystate. Oh well that’s a chunk of my retirement money down the drain.What does ankh me is that DS in all their advertising said that the gun would have this and this function really why then are they only just bringing out the donggel. I feel sorry for the lads that have bought the Sub 12 guns they were well and truly stitched up.

Right now I have a Prod done by AR , a Texan .308 being sent out to Doug Noble to get run through and turned into a .257, and a Dreamline in an ACZ chassis. I love the dreamline, its my favorite, the prod is the most fun cheap plinker, I have kept myself from buying anything "above" these in fear I will hate them lol

Yep got one and also have impacts Mavericks Dreamlinesand RedWolfs and most of the Daystate range would I get rid of them for the DeltaWolf nope not at all. Every gun we have is as accurate as the DeltaWolf or in some cases more accurate. My son regrets asking for one for his birthday/ Christmas present and I regret doing shed loads over overtime to pay for it.

What Daystate should have done is put a chronograph onto the RedWolf and if they did they would not be able to keep up with orders.

Do not get me wrong it’s not that bad a rifle when it works stress when it works it’s just not up to what was on the packet also Daystate stiffed UK shooter who do not have Fac they led them to believe that all the bells and whistles would be on Fac and no Fac guns.
