That, and also the way the grey stones are just thrown in at random.
As you probably know there are several systems in which you can make a wall with bricks, though these are all to a system, some of them i do not like.
In Danish Masonry terms this is called a "forbant"or course in English, the funny thing is forbant is close to a other word "forbandet" which mean damned in Danish.

Mind you it is not why i dident become a mason like every man on my fathers side of the family have been for 100s of years.
Heading out and closing shop...

Going on "vacation" August 1st to the 15th.
If you are in Minnesota or traveling through Minnesota in the Brainerd Lakes Region, the PGI is having its annual convention and its going to be CRAZY!

Firewalker
C
Pyromaniacs on Parade? LOL
Air King
I never knew there was such a convention. I'm overcome with emotion, forgive me. I'm shell shocked.
So China wins the First Gold Medal. And it was in the 10 Meter Air Gun Competition. Think they were shooting FX? :ROFLMAO:
Peashooter
Yeah a few make it to the big league.
You should also see the American football scene here, it is even more marginal sport than shooting whatever is here.

On the other hand we have Handball, a game where i dont even know if the US do it, but they are probably not in our league.

I as a school kid once lent a helping foot at the annual school football ( soccer ) championship even though i despise team based sports like that.
I was defender scored the most goals and while the kids playing soccer as a hobby we on the side line with cramps i was running my ass off.

In a pair of borrowed soccer shoes too small, so after the games the one was filled of blood from my big toe nail torn half way off.

Things need to change at the Olympics. This is sad. Boxer, Volleyball Player. How many more?

great poster, sad but true.
Sort of related.

My computer chair was collapsing on me in spite of only being a year old.

IMG_20240726_133849.jpg

So i went looking for a better used chair, and found this one.

IMG_20240726_132620.jpg

Only adjustable in height, but still able to "kick back" in it, and i often need that when the stupidity of the world overpower me, and i have to push myself a little away from the screen and shake my head in disbelief.

I do like the reto look of the cast ALU frame on it, could also be the blue color that give me a fifties feel about it.

PS. No matter what direction i aim a camera in my living room, a gun case or two will sneak into frame :)
C
It does have that "70's" Retro look about it! My Wife has been using similar to accent the Kitchen.
Mr.H
Nice chair! Who makes it?
Peashooter
The brand is called Brunner, i think it is a German brand.

This particular ( conference chair ) is called Fina soft.

Going to fifties with " retro look " i think i forget i am old myself and do not have to resort to other older peoples retro, and fifties is the decade before my coming about decade.

My price was 290 USD with taxes. ( Danish 25 % sales tax )
The look of this chair i feel is much in line with the world renowned " Danish design " philosophy
Seem like next week will be a pew - pew week.
winds down under 10 MPH, so it dont get much better in Denmark.
And i will have the range to myself, CUZ my friend will be playing painter at the owner of a local Land Rover dealership where he still get his cars fixed even if he do not drive land rover any more.

Top graph temperatures in deg C ( so seemingly not a single summer day in view )
Bottom graph is the wind, and in the forecast that is the expected average wind in M/s but 4 M/s = 8. something MPH

My M8 will leave a key for me, so i can say hello to my two doggo friends there.
Bought here on Airgun Nation classified used Airforce Condor.. It has a Chaszel 22 Lr 12 twist barrel liner now 27.5 inch after shortening 22lr chamber to just use thoat.. sleeved 10 mm to 12 mm carbon fiber sleeve from Amazon $30.00 Threaded barrel 3/8-24....Amazon automotive brake line adapter 3/8-24 to 1/2-20 for $5.68.. Drilled.out to .250 diameter on lathe.. Moderator from classified here.when that was a thing..$10.00. Amazon $30.00 300bar 8mm valve. EBay 90 gram.hammer and heavy power spring...I.can't wait to size and shoot some heavy 50 grain slugs... This Condor was built with parts.knowledge and the financial support of great friends and family... Staying busy with airgun s this week...My loved loyal 14 year old Mountain Fiest passed away Saturday. She caught moles voles and even one last ground hog this summer with a Pitt bull friend.. I got my Arsenal molds .223 powder coat bevel base 5 cavity mold in 🙂🙂🙂 They are around 50 grains..I cast and powder coated 8 pounds today... They came out good 👍 today Shake and bake ...13 min at400 degrees...and stait out of oven into water quench..They all separate and no marks... It's takes a minute casting and powder coating to get it perfect 😊 I cast and powder coated around 1100 slugs Today for $8.00....Pure lead cost me $1.00 a pound
Ezana4CE
@RM.510bigbore Wait. You're saying that you take them straight from the oven with powder coat and dump them into water? What's the purpose of doing that?
R
The reason being I powder coated 1100 slugs at one time. One heaping pile on a oven cookie tray..Dumping them hot 400 degrees instantly into water separates them perfectly no marks..Otherwise you would have to individual handle each slug a set up right in silicon.ice.cube trays.. So 1100 slugs cast time 4-5 hours. Total.time powder coating including 13 min oven maybe 30 min total..It took 8 lbs of pure lead at a $1.00 a pound to make 1100 47-50grain.slugs..Probably about 2 table spoons of powder coating... Arsenal 5 cavity mold $100.00 shipped... I rebelling against $20.00 a.hundred airgun slugs....lol. The fatal flaw casting is having.to size your slugs...Its a slow handle each slug process...... There is a.new.Lee APP press with feed tubes ,,its way faster,,, but I'm sure at a min$165.00 to $300.00 tricked out to work good ... Lee sizeing bushings will be here tomorrow in .221 and .222 diameter.. I'm ready to test my 22 condor= Chaszel 12 twist barrel liner... $68.00 😀
Politics aside...

I ran across this photo a few days ago on X. I've seen bullets as they traveled to their destination in the past, but only if they were traveling away and the lighting was just right. The photographer has said that he was using a shutter speed of 1/8000 of a second, but that doesn't seem right. An (assumed) .223 round starts at 2800-3200 fps (depending on barrel length and bullet weight) and would be going a bit less than that at 140 yards.

The streak appears to be about a foot long. That implies a shutter speed much less than stated, I think...

Thoughts?

Trump-Bullet.jpeg
WoodWelder
I'm not sure if shutter speed has anything to do with it?

Anything that is recorded live can be put thru editing software to slow the projectile footage to milliseconds?
Treefrog
It's my understanding that the photog that took that shot was shooting with a special camera at 1/8000th of a second and at 60-frames a second. (Perfect for catching a "pink-mist" situation.) He's a still-photographer. I do not know why he chose those settings. My much older Nikon DSLR won't do near that.

If the bullet was moving at 2800-fps, a shutter speed of 1/2800th of a second would show the bullet leaving about a one-foot streak. This pic doesn't jibe with what's being reported. The streak should be much shorter. I'm hoping someone will check my math here.

I can say that there is SO much that's hinky about this entire situation. I'm no conspiracy theorist, but there's a lot about this that just ain't computing.
Stubbers
That is not the bullet but the jet stream / turbulence from it which is still impressive to catch, imo.
I dont know who the joke is on.
BUT !

Huma just posted that they made a O-ring kit for the DRS barrel kit.

So ?????? this many O-rings for just the GD barrel.

DRSbarrelkitrings.jpg

Peashooter
Apparently the joke was on me, Huma just use a generic photo for all O-ring related.
Dunno about you guys, but stuff like that infuriate me greatly.
I spent yesterday on jury duty (but wasn't selected). It was a bit of an eye-opener. The thug on trial (for felon in possession of a firearm, ADW, and shooting into a vehicle) cleaned up really nice. He kept his mouth shut the whole day, too. The lawyers concentrated on two things. The jurors' views on the police and on the race of the particular thug on trial. Looking forward to seeing how things play out.
Justaguy
My work partner did 8 years for attempted murder. He is one of the nicest guys I have ever met and probably the most liked in our shop. You just never know.
Treefrog
Yeah... I looked up this particular guy's priors. He's a convicted woman-beater. Multiple felony convictions. I'm done with that.
Dr. Kralenstein
Sounds like he needs a longer time out this time. Apparently his prior sentences didn't "rehabilitate" him.

So sick of everyone worrying about what race someone is. We're ALL one race and it's called Human.

Unless they consider him an animal, then race would apply!
Got the hard part done. Having a smart and strong buddy is highly recommend.

Time now to clean inspect and adjust to level. Don't know if it will ever pay for itself, but I am excited to learn how to turn. Airguns are still cheaper than golf 😆

I remember helping my friend putting a new complete gearbox into a land rover parked at the curb.
That be shoehorning it in thru the back door, and then drop it down ( floor removed ) and finagle it into place )
Now we was 2 doing the lifting but if you know a land rover you know there is not much room back there, and the complete gearbox as i recall was 208 kilos / 458 pounds.
Back then in the 90ties i was only 65 Kilos / 143 pounds myself, and 6 foot 3 tall, with no shirt on you could count my ribs from 25 yards with ease.
But i was at least lifting the 150 of those kilos, at least i could fairly easy dead lift that weight in the late 80ties.

I could use a lathe tomorrow when i cut 100 mm of one of my FX barrels.

A lathe are not rocket science,,,, you got this buddy.
BUT ! watch your fingers.
A young man was so disappointed today that I could would not sell a part that would not fit without machining that he asked if I was a "Boomer".

He wasn't asking, really, he was being rude and was extremely immature in his conduct.

Hang on people, Hell is quite the ride in a handbasket....

People tend to confuse observations with criticism. I think that it stems from insecurity, but what do I know?

One of the things I love about mechanical work is that is reality based. Feelings have no part in it (except of course, when you crank an engine up and it purrs after you spent hours getting it back to right). That said, the problems happen when someone feels a certain way about how something should work. Reality doesn't operate that way. Getting that across to them without pissing them off is the hard part. I once said to a former client - "Have you considered finding a Holistic Mechanic"?
Justaguy
I apologize. I didn't mean to start an argument. I am 51. I don't have kids. Never wanted them. I did watch my friends and coworkers have kids over the years and have noticed most of them don't raise their kids, the way my mom raised me.
Then again... how could they? When I was a little jerk, my mom/principle would beat my @Ss to teach me discipline. Parents/Principles aren't allowed to do that these days. If you can't teach today's kids, the same level of discipline... how can you expect them to turn out the same?
I agree kids are out of control these days. We just disagree on the source of that behavior.
Finally. Being a 'Boomer' is a badge of honor. I had a lot of friends that did not make it to 'Boomer' status.
Firewalker
I certainly didn't think anything said so far was criticism, I have seen avery generation take the easy road of blame (me included when I was young) instead of the hard road of change.
Remember! July Fourt is almost here! But there is something louder than Fireworks!1719692143622.png

All I see is a plastic bottle cap.
If it isn't that, what is it?
Treefrog
That's a cake container like the grocer store uses for angel-food cakes. I hate angel-food cake... The dogs disagree.
Firewalker
Totally a COSTCO cheesecake container!

I get busted EVERY time I pop it open to sneak a piece. 😇
I just wanted to thank all the members on the forums that supported me the last 3years.. My health has been bad..No income..My disability finally went through😀... My best friend realized the hard times I fell on and bought me my .510 Texan and .22 Condor... Airgun s and there related activities really helped at times when I was unable to do anything else...I rebuild my yong heng 7 times....I couldn't afford a compressor upgrade.. I'm so looking forward. to a air compressor booster upgrade!😀.. My Tractors.fixed.. new shooting range at other property finally going to happen!!!! So thankful for your support!!! My health is much better than its been in a long time!!!! I'm going to have income play around with airgun s,food plots, and new camp.and range on our family property...Small things mean alot...Good.day friends

Good to read that things are looking up for you. Sounds like you have solid friends.
Putting in some study time. Doing my homework for N50 contest in Raton, NM in August.

Now that’s some research I could be coerced into…just looks like fun to me..John
JimNM
John, are you and your squad going to be able to get to the N50 this year at Raton? I had to pull out last year due to family emergency. This year it'll take Godzilla to keep me away. Hope to have you guys there. New Mexico needs some shooters better than me, to represent 👍
J
Not this year…I haven’t put in the time on that very perishable skill…Hopefully have more time to devote to my favorite activities over the coming year. Not sure if any of our other shooters are going.… health issues in one form or another seems to plague us as we get older. Thanks for your vote of confidence. John
Failure: I hate it when you get that feeling in the pit of your stomach when someone asks you to do work for them but thier expectations are completely unrealistic.

No matter how hard you try sometimes, you fail even when you did everything right and you returned the product in better shape.

These are the days.....
Firewalker
No, it was an even cheaper gun and I just knew that there was a disconnect and LOTS of warning signs ahead of time.

No one to blame but me. I just wish I hadn't spent all those hours on it.
Dr. Kralenstein
Sometimes you just gotta say no and turn down certain customers. It's not worth the headache or stress. I find myself turning down side work on cars more and more, especially more critical/bigger jobs. Had a timing chain job fail 8000 miles after I did the work, solely because the owner didn't want to replace the vvt cam gears as I recommended, and they tried to blame me for the failure.

I no longer do timing chains or belts because of that. Too much liability.
Treefrog
I feel you. There are people that will never be happy regardless of how well they're taken care of. "Ever since you fixed my bike, my neighbors' mower won't start." The upside is that once you know who they are, you can both avoid them and warn others off.
Gotta love GM. Had to replace the emission vent solenoid on top of my gas tank on the work van. Order the part which was 30 bucks. OK. I drop the tank to get access, fiddle with the connectors and hose clamp while standing on my head. Off it comes! Not too bad right?

Pop the hose on the new solenoid and go to connect the wires and it DOESN'T FIT. Huh?

Check my part number and it's correct. Then I find out that the lovely engineers at GM decided to "update" the wire connector a few years after my van, but they did make an adapter harness that you can get for a nominal fee of $60!

This is why mechanics hate engineers!
Peashooter
Try to imagine a diesel engine, as big as a house.
Then imagine you have to do something simple with it, and find out you need to unscrew parts of that damn thing for half a day just to do something extremely simple.

I have lost count on how many times i have cursed engineer's to hell.
Dr. Kralenstein
I hate working on diesels. Did that for 8 years as a bus mechanic. They stuff those engines in the back of those bastards. It got to the point I would just pull the whole motor/trans out to do most anything on them vs crawl inside there and get cramped up and disgustingly greasy.
Peashooter
HEHE yeah i could imagine that, probably more cramped than some exhaust manifolds i have been inside. ( and i am 6 foot 3" )
Plenty of chances to get dirty on a ship too, some jobs actually mean a +50 % bonus.

Also remember the old days where you could drop a tool working on a motor, and it would just fall to the ground below it, these days popping the hood and you cant even see the GD engine.
I'm getting my most important tools for airgun usage ready for service!!! Team Kubota L3010 and Team Honda Rancher 420TRX.....With the tractor fixed brush hog a new shooting range on the grown up property now possible😀!!! Hopefully 250 yards!! ! I'm kinda gimped so I have to have trails.cut and be able to drive to targets....I have the POP up camper on the property already!!!! Since spending more time there the wildlife are responding well...Less trespassers...... Saw good bear sign had me surprised😮😮...

No.I really.haven't... I.do enjoy having my old mountain fiest run a bear on occasion... Here in SW Pennsylvania its.a.new thing seeing Bears,Coyotes,Bobcats.....Are Wild Turkey numbers are half what they used to be...Ground Hogs are so.few.in number they aren't a pest anymore... Maybe I'll.get a bear tag.this year😀
Firewalker
Thats AWESOME!

I got a LS Tractor last year, I'm getting a brush-hog, rotary mower this summer to knock down the hay/grass so I can keep the 100 yard lane as well.
