Years of plinking and competition, then stopped 20 years ago. Spent the last 12 years working for an engineering house building and testing prototypes for new products that connect to iPhones and iPads.
Just purchased my RAW HM1000x about a month ago, along with a Hawke Sidewinder 4-16x50. Arken Zulu with range finder is on the way.

Glad to be here.
The longest day of the year is coming up soon and apologizing to my dry friends up front, I'm going to pull out a reclining lawn chair, grab an ice cold beer and listen to the wind in the trees until the light is all gone and it's pitch black.

I've been on call for a week, I'm in pain, my honey-do list still takes up my job board and I need to just sit a while and "be".

I would like to do the same, but the problem is, in Denmark summer seem to no longer exist, these days daytime temperatures can barely claw their way past 10 deg C / 50 deg F
So as you can understand i am sure, not much fun being outside and at least inactive, TBH i think the moment the new shot shed are done we might have to start up the furnace / oven in it to keep warm.

There might be global warming, but its not us that " pump up the volume " last summer was also BS
Im working on a few dozen clamps for an acoustic build.

I’m very familiar with cam clamps…I built wooden sailing yachts. Most of mine were much larger and heavier….same concept though. I still like to see neat tools, simply constructed, to accomplish a specific task. John

Spool clamps only grip the edge, great for top plates.

I built similar clamps from aluminum for welding titanium airflow tubing for aircraft.

Another good year at Raton for the Kid's shooting competition. Littlest one did not make it to the award stage this year, but she did have a breakthrough on the practice range and managed to level-up on three critical skills. She was shooting a new shotgun, a new (to her) Ruger. She set a personal best in Rifle and Muzzleloader and was just one hit each out of the awards. She is already chomping at the bit to go again next year. I was in my favorite place with my favorite group of people, and I reaped the benefits of both being away from work and being able to witness the 37 shooters on our team manifest the skills and knowledge that we coaches have been working toward.

Life is good.

The Archer
I removed the auto safety some time back and placed it in the circular file. Everything works so much better now. Also keeping my ear to the ground for 5,500psi air tanks at a reasonable price.

I bought mine on ebay. Scott 5.5.....Watch there around....😁

That thing is impressive!!!!!😯😯
You can buy fancy powered sharpening tools and jigs. I usually sharpen by hand, and leather strop after. Either way if it shaves, it's sharp...1000002162.jpg1000002161.jpg

Sharp is sharp…no matter how you get there….my wife always knows when I sharpen anything from the hairless patches on my forearm….
Looks like I need to look into being robbed by my local woodcraft store. After a bunch of research the plane is a type 4 produced from 53-65, and the knob and tote are made from Goncalo wood(tigerwood). Gonna see if they have a piece i can make both out of so the have nice matching color and grain. The front knob is not in bad shape but upon removal has some cracks in the base.1000002153.jpg

Yes sir! My most recent was the gun vise....and it's been getting a workout.1000001916.jpg

Looks stout…it’s really nice having your rifle rigid while you’re trying to clean or adjust it. Nicely Done!
I also buy and restore old handplanes. Found this Miller's Falls #9 at a tag sale for $6 today. Already started tearing into it. The worst part is the rear handle (tote) that broke at some point and was repaired in ways that are functional only.1000002150.jpg

$6 is a bargin. Can't wait to see the restoration.
I'm just curious… who was the first person to look at a split open oyster and think "what a nice piece of snot! I'll bet that tastes delicious!"?
ThomasT
I am pretty sure that was Primitive Pete :ROFLMAO: , however I am ranked in there somewhere 😋.

Not sure but I'd bet there was a Mom yelling
"Put that down! Oh My God!!! Did you just eat that?"

Interestingly enough.... it feels the same way sliding down your throat, but they are delicious.
Was anyone else in the line of totality today? Pretty neat experience.

I'm in Pennsylvania and I got a good view of.the eclipse ...It was cloudy enough to see without glasses ...Pretty neat any time at all. Sun and moon same size lol always amazing

I was right in the path of totality and we had cloudless skies up here in Maine last week. Pretty cool experience. People are still talking about it.
IMG_20240407_152114.jpg I'm just so happy today for good weather 👍 Getting 50: yards Zero s and chronograph. Crutches are better for bench shooting.. Hopefully get brushog to other property..200 yard range coming soon 🙂 Handicap shooting rig for Texan... lol
I came here totally open-minded and hoping to learn from others with vastly more experience than I have. I have gotten great advice from some folks, and I have found many things that were a great read. What is very disappointing to me is how some brands can be bashed, kicked and driven into the ground to no end and with other brands it is inappropriate to find any fault with them at all. That tends to make me feel like I cannot really trust or believe in much of anything, kind of like politics and politicians. I find it fascinating that when new people to Airgunning come on and ask about guns they can reasonably afford, there will always be people completely ignoring what they said and telling them to buy the most expensive guns made. It's okay, they probably really don't need a scope, ammo or any way to fill it, so sure by all means spend twice as much money as you have on a gun so you can hang it on your wall and enjoy looking at it every day and totally enjoy the fact that it will never break. Well, that's not really true, is it? The Savage 110E wasn't the prettiest gun like Browning, but it would bring home the deer. The cancel culture is totally alive and well and by the way, mine is better than yours and you better believe it.;)

Hello @Chief55

I am sorry that you did not find the "overall" help very friendly and Informative. I am a member of several forums and on all of them, there are those few folks that do not READ a post, but do seems to have the best answer, ..... , even if their answer does not apply. As soon as I start to read a "negative" or "off the topic" reply, I simply go to the next reply 😁 .

There are some products ( guns ) that are not worth buying and it is helpful to get reviews from members. However there are a number of ways to "review" a product and it does not need to be an all out bashing. I personally have had a very bad experience with one particular manufacture ( not the dealer ) and their product which has a serious design flaw.

The "latest and greatest" and or the "most expensive" product is surely not the answer to an individual's personal needs, so it is a matter of simply reading through all of the replies and then deciding what item is best for you.

I have found most of the folks here on this forum to be really nice, friendly and very helpful.

Have a great day,
ThomasT

Airgun s are different from powder burners..even at that 20 years ago you take a savage with a $300.00 benchrest barrel to any match you want..So good barrels apply to airgun s also... My $1100.00 Texan has had multiple failures and required modifications to shoot accurately. My $230.00 Umarex Airsaber will shoot good groups at a 100 yards no modifications... That said I shoot my Texan more... Less steps no arrow removal... Airgun s initial investment high.. Glad to have you here😀

Like all things in life, "just separate the wheat from the chaff". I don't mind a little advice I can't really use or apply for a whole lot of advice that has been helpful & FREE. Thanks to AGN for a Great Airgun Forum.
I was afraid it would end like this.
It seem like this site are not strong enough to carry my presence, and in spite of me greatly improving ( if i have to say so myself ) in the past few decades on other fora, it seem like some of my flaws are pushing rules or peoples or admins buttons too hard.
So after several warnings now and post deletions lately it is probably best if i take my leave.

So i will log out now, and only come here as a reader in the future so as not to aggravate anyone.

Best wishes - lead and wind everyone.

The tone of this board has become one of run scared to say anything lest it offend someone, some agency, or some group. I am close to bailing myself. Lately there isn't much of any value here. Mostly crap about show me yours and I'll show you mine.
B
Its a typical gun site . Best to visit when you need info and then only believe about 20% what's being said. Kinda like gun shops seen too all have a know-it-all they let hang out.

Gents, why take it all so seriously…? Its a hobby to the majority and AGN is a privately owned site. For me, personally? AGN is an escape from the “real world” bullpoop afflicted on the US Citizen by a corrupt Federal Guvmint. Airguns, plinking and pesting help me escape, temporarily that crap…
